this bug seems to still be present in 14.10 development.
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
MB: Gigabyte Z97N-Gaming 5
I'm not sure whether this is purely a cosmetic issue, or if Ubuntu is
actually overriding the CPU frequency

John Kuang, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please just make a comment to this.
Also, could you please test the latest upstream
Unfortunately I can't run a Live USB as they don't work. My system seems
to need the nvidia drivers; it crashes after booting with the nouveau
driver. Should I still bother to test with a mainline kernel? Your
instructions are not too clear as to exactly which version I should use.

I can only test it if there is a way to pre-install the nvidia drivers
into a Live USB. I can't upgrade my permanent raring installation as it
is my main working system.
