The first issue is that when external audio devices are plugged into the headphone jack on the laptop, the internal speakers begin making a high-pitch buzzing noise until the device is unplugged. I have discovered that I can remedy this issue by disabling "Auto- Mute" in alsamixer. Another issue I have been having is a faint buzzing sound followed by a loud pop that emits from my laptop's speakers upon suspending or shutting it down. The volume at the time of shutdown does not have any effect on this. Finally, when my laptop is running off battery, my internal speakers emit a high pitched buzzing sound when the audio is idle. However, disabling the audio device power-save feature remedies this problem entirely. Thank you for your help, and if there is anything I can do to help with the process, I would be more than happy to participate. -Nicholas Anderson ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-14.21-generic 3.11.7 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-14-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: nanderson 2076 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: nanderson 2076 F.... pulseaudio Date: Fri Dec 20 03:41:18 2013 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-12-15 (4 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: alsa-driver Symptom: audio Symptom_AlsaPlaybackTest: ALSA playback test through plughw:PCH successful Symptom_Card: Built-in Audio - HDA Intel PCH Symptom_Jack: Speaker, Internal Symptom_PulsePlaybackTest: PulseAudio playback test successful Symptom_Type: Underruns, dropouts, or "crackling" sound Title: [20216, Realtek ALC282, Speaker, Internal] Underruns, dropouts or crackling sound UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 05/08/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 74CN26WW(V1.07) dmi.board.asset.tag: YB00581619 dmi.board.name: 20216 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: 31900003WIN8 STD MLT dmi.chassis.asset.tag: YB00581619 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Lenovo IdeaPad Y410P dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr74CN26WW(V1.07):bd05/08/2013:svnLENOVO:pn20216:pvrLenovoIdeaPadY410P:rvnLENOVO:rn20216:rvr31900003WIN8STDMLT:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLenovoIdeaPadY410P: dmi.product.name: 20216 dmi.product.version: Lenovo IdeaPad Y410P dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1263036/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
