UbUK, best bet in maximizing traction with upstream is test latest
mainline kernel (now 5.2-rc6). If still reproducible with the latest
mainline kernel, advise of this on a follow up of https://marc.info/?l

I originally filed this bug in 2014. Sadly, nothing was ever done to
resolve the issue.
Although I am still using the same laptop I am now running Ubuntu
18.04.2 LTS with 4.15.0-52-generic kernel (all updates have been
installed). The same bug still exists. So I don't think it would
Can this be closed or is this still an issue?

UbUK, did this problem not occur in a release prior to Trusty?
If you don't know/haven't tested it, for regression testing purposes,
could you please test a live environment of 12.04.0 (not 12.04.5 or some
other variant) via http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04.0/ and

I don't know if this occurred in a release prior to Trusty so I
downloaded 12.04.3 LTS (Precise Pangolin) - the distro linked to in your
post - and ran it from a USB stick. The short answer is that the
problem also exists in Precise. Slightly longer answer - the CPU is
recognised/named correctly
UbUK, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could you please
report this problem to the appropriate mailing list (linux-pm) by
following the instructions _verbatim_ at
