Hello,
did not come back to this as updating my bios made my notebook unuseable and I
had to send it in for service. Now back with the upgraded bios, mousepad seems
to be working in perfect order!

OK Wait, before this will get deleted: the same bug reoccurred again. I had
made a fresh re-installation of lubuntu after the bios upgrade broke things.
Now the bug didn't occur at all unless I would update the nvidia drivers with
the following packages:
nvidia-331
nvidia-settings
nvidia-prime
