Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer

I report that with the linked patched kernel the touchpad is recognized
and features like multitouch and sidescrolling now work correctly.

The touchpad is wrongly recognized as an Elantech PS/2 and behaves as
mouse. It works but it misses many of the typical gestures needed by a
touchpad, like two fingers scrolling or side scrolling.
