I couldn't make the commit bisect work yet.
But I've realized one thing and I think it's an important one and maybe
a workaround for this issue: I booted up the laptop with no HDMI cable
connected to the HDMI output and I've tried to execute the xrandr
command and the HDMI output was there. So,
I'm actually using a standard kernel so it is weird ... btw today, after
update, I tested again the hdmi and it works fine so at the moment I
don't have any issue

I have a similar issue with an Intel sandy bridge graphic card, As for
this bug report the issue started after upgrading to 15.10 ...
I can switch on the external monitor but this cause both the screen to
start to have distorted images and not stable images ( basically not
usable at all )
I've tried, but that I couldn't boot into that kernel. That option is
not available in the boot menu.

and I check the "Propietary drivers for devices (restricted)" option,
then, in the "Additional Drivers" tab, three options show up:
- Using X.Org X Server - AMD/ATI display driver wrapper from
GoddamnNoise:
>"2) The last Kernel update received from Ubuntu 's repositories."
I need the version number precisely. Saying the last update is useless.
