OK moving back to confirmed Have had the new BIOS running for a week and have seen the issue recur several times. Current workaround is to boot up, and then open [ System Properties --> Mouse and Touchpad ] mouse properties, where i will only see General (and not Touchpad). I then close the lid

im going to change the status to incomplete pending one more replication I had restarted the machine during the BIOS flash as per the utils request, and then ubuntu 14.04 came back up there was no mouse. I did my little dance of closing the lid and waiting for a while, which was not working for
