when upgrading from 12.04.5 LTS to 14.04 after successful install you must reboot and there is a blank screen on VMware 5.5.0 enterprise (Vcenter server 5.5.0). VM hangs and only solution is to revert to snapshot (if any :D) regardless open-vm-tools or Vmware tools in use (installed). Tried on

Thanks guys. This fixed the issue for me and now the update to the latest kernel version allowed me to get into the vm-machine. However, I still notice that during the boot, I see the red message "Failed to load kernel modules". Don't know it is related to the same bug. Have a good day. --
