Reinstalled 16.04, updated to latest kernel (4.4.0-17) and using nouveau.
suspends still fails. It nevers completes the suspend procedure and there is no
other option that hard boot.
$ lsmod | grep nouveau
nouveau 1495040 0

ends up in the same situation. Never finishing the suspend and forced to hard
boot.
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.6 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.
If the mainline kernel does not fix

suspend didn't work with bios 1.1.3
- upgraded bios to 1.1.7
- still can suspend. It hangs on black screen, fan still works, no indication
of suspend. needed to force a hard boot.
