For AMD users, I finally managed to get my primary display to correctly update at 144Hz under Xorg by manually enabling TearFree rendering, as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AMDGPU#Tear_Free_Rendering I manually created the file: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf Inside
