Public bug reported:

System: Xubuntu 18.04.02

due to an gcc update, several programs give errors.
This includes DKMS as the GCC version installed is newer than the version the
kernel was compiled with.

This happens with the newest kernel from the stable channel

GCC versions in question:

Kernel GCC version 7.3.0-16ubuntu3

in my case installed 7.4.0-1ubuntu1~18.04

this may affect GPU Drivers (nvidia in my case) as they are not able to load
properly - which results in a Forced resolution of 1024*768 at 78 hz

Kernel versions prior to 4.15.0-50-generic are affected more or less
too, as they are compiled with older gcc versions too.

newer kernel version not available in stable channel
