Public bug reported:

I have an X220 connected to a dock and via HDMI to an external monitor
running bionic. I noticed that anytime that I came back to the machine
from a screensaver both displays would flicker hard in certain areas of
the screen. The "fix" is to click the affected areas and then the
flickering goes away. I believe the X230 I also have is not affected in
the same dock but my memory might be wrong here.

Most importantly, I was able to verify that this problem is not present
in mainline kernel "5.2.0-999-generic #201905312204 SMP Sat Jun 1
