  Installation of 20.04 fails with a kernel bug

  Fresh installation of Kubuntu 20.04 on an Intel i3 system.  Currently
  it's running 18.10 without issue.  The graphical installer hangs at
  "configuring apt   9%"  Attached is output from dmesg and
