I'm also facing this issue with Ubuntu 22.04.1 running on a HP Z800
tower.
In my case, every time I ask for a shutdown, or reboot, windows manager
dies but I can still see all windows contents, and even interact with
applications (some of them), but not able to reboot from GNOME desktop.

present during May. It got fixed with some system update later (June or
July). The shutdown works properly on the machine now.

Using 22.04.1 LTS with 5.15.0-47-generic on Acer Aspire E 17 Laptop, because I
turned off plymouth I see the system hanging after displaying:
shutdown[1]: Rebooting
kvm: exiting hardware virtualization
ctrl+alt+SysReq+b works!

i can shutdown the system.
