Booted it from a USB flash drive and installed the Broadcom STA, going
to Software Updates - Additional Drivers.
It worked great! Then I installed Ubuntu

issue.
I've attached the console ouput (which show no error).
As for other test, I've booter 5 times on this kernel to be sure it was

I've just upgraded the BIOS, but without any change to the firewire
issue.
by the way the firewire-ohci.blacklist=yes command doesn't work for me.
Instead I have to use
blacklist=firewire_ohci
I confirm the work-around works perfectly.

Has this been looked at recently? I would really like to have this
feature working on my laptop. I run Ubuntu religiously but this is a
pain.
It worked in 12.04 LTS kernel 3.5 but after that it never worked again.

It's still an issue in trusty, at least. It may be contributing to being
unable to get 4-headed X working properly across 2 GPUs (this is a dual
GPU 4-output workstation card)

mode so that it runs at full speed. As for it previously being worse;
in some cases it sounds like there may have been less dust in the fan at
