[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1633391] Re: Ubuntu doesn't boot anymore {REGRESSION}

2016-10-17 Thread Tommy_CZ
The situation is crazy. I have -43, -42, -38 and -36 kernels. The bug is not in "quiet splash" option. All of them can boot only 1 of 8 times, no matter which one, no matter whether "quiet splash" is present or not. It is probably not bug in kernel. -- You received this bug notification

I really don't understand what's going on here. It's been another 6 days now. There has been another (broken) kernel update for xenial (4.4.0-43) which did not include this fix, and which also did not go through -proposed. Instead xenial-proposed is still at at 4.4.0-41, which is broken as well.

So the linux kernel regression test ./linux/tools/testing/selftests/breakpoints/step_after_suspend_test is being run and does not return. However, running this in a clean instance it does pass. It basically sets the RTC to wake in 5 seconds and does a suspend and the RTC wakealarm wakes it up.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1634214] [NEW] kernel panic on resume from suspend with 4.4.0 kernels

Public bug reported: My laptop repeatedly kernel panics after a botched "return from suspend" in my Samsung 900X laptop using (K)ubuntu 16.04. Booting into 4.2.0-38-generic kernel seems to work fine. Up until this point 4.2 and four different 4.4 kernels functioned properly 90% of the time.
