I have just tried simply removing the bottom cover and holding the
laptop against an electric fan. And the fans stopped spinning.
I had to run several applications and execute a heavy task to re-trigger the
fans. Fans start at max speed for a few seconds and then settle down at

The same here on a Acer E5-771 with nvidia card on Ubuntu 14.04.
Since updates gave 4.4.0 Kernel, the suspend is broken.
When I send to suspend, the suspend doesn't actually complete: the power led
stays blue instead to turn to blink orange, and the computer freezes. No way to
recover but

please feel free to send me mail. My impression is that your patch looks
good but for upstream submission it needs to be rebased on top of the
latest kernel version.

firmware package in efi FS. You can extract it from

OK, I can see one big problem, the timeout command is being used to
SIGKILL stress-ng - that means all the child processes get SIGKILL'd and
hence abort without cleaning up. One ends up with a file system full of
garbage files which will cause subsequent tests to break.
I suggest:
1. Sending
Ran apport-collect yesterday. It does not seem appropriate for me as the
submitter to change the status to "complete" as suggested above :)
