@vanvugt No flickering for me on an XPS 13 9360 apart from the
brightness getting adjusted at the same time the spinner starts. When
the brightness is set to maximum before rebooting I don't notice
anything apart from the spinner appearing. In a perfect world the
brightness would be adjusted
Today I've tested a little bit with that kernel v5.5-rc5 and the creepy
sound seems to be disappeared. I will continue testing a little bit
more, but finally sound seems to work flawlessly.

I've verified the Eoan version in -proposed (1:1.6.6-2ubuntu2). The test
