precise after the most recent linux-lts-raring updates (and none before
that) that seemed to go away after disabling zram.

called Rufus (http://rufus.akeo.ie/)).

there's an error in my previous report.
- kernel 3.8.0-29 : everything ok, brightness is adjustable, with
CTRL+F4/F5 or via a XFCE widget
- kernel 3.8.0-30 : nothing work, brightness always minimum, CTRL+F4/F5
doesn't work, XFCE widget doesn't work.
My laptop is a Dell XPS 13 with the 1080p

This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug

I had time to test..hope that I didn't make mistake.
I found way to reproduce with these simple steps:
1. Start Ubuntu
2. Plug printer cable (already on) - printer still OFF (status: paused)
3. Unplug replug - printer ON (status: ready)
Always reproducible with those steps above, second
