Brightness control does not work on this AIO system
The brightness level indicator would change with hotkey events, but the 
brightness itself does not.

I've just installed against upstream 3.18.0-031800rc6 (linux-
image-3.18.0-031800rc6-generic_3.18.0-031800rc6.201411231935_amd64.deb,

linux-

and get the same behaviour. Focus does not go to the encryption key
input box so it is impossible to decrypt my disk and boot. This new
kernel does show one slightly different behaviour: when I type my key,
it is displayed in clear text at the top left of the screen displaying
the prompt box. As before, typing and pressing enter has no effect even
though you can see the password appearing (in the wrong place).

Title:
  [Intel DQ67SW] Can not enter password to decrypt disk at boot

Bug description:
  I have upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10. My whole disk is encrypted
  with luks and since the upgrade I have found I can no longer unlock my
  disk at boot. The enter password screen appears, but typing does not
  cause any characters to appear in the password box. However, if I hit
  ctrl-alt f7 (not sure of the precise function key) I get a black
  screen with a flashing white cursor and I can see the password that I
  entered. This would seem to imply that this is not a problem with the
  usb drivers, as has been reported in other similar bugs. It's as if
  the focus is simply in the wrong place at the time when I need to
  enter my password. Entering the password anyway and pressing enter has
  no effect.

  By using Grub to select the previous kernel, I can then decrypt my disk and 
use the system as normal. The working kernel version is 3.13.0-39-generic. The 
problematic kernel is 3.16.0-24-generic.

Here's a screenshot to illustrate the problem. It's a terrible photo,
but you can hopefully see that what I type is being displayed at the top
left and focus is not going to the enter passphrase box. In this photo
I have typed a password and pressed enter. Nothing I can do makes
focus go to the right box or causes the entered password to be used.

Bug description:
  ethtool -t eth0 offline does the tests, but leaves the routing table
  with only the entry for the local network.  I had to sudo route add
  default gw 10.0.0.1, in my case.  The online test didn't do this.

  (the martian packets are from TCP connections that my router is still
  NATing to this machine, even though without its routing table, it's
  not happy to see them.)

   And yes, my e1000e is autonegotiating to 10baseT/Full on the same
  cables and switch that still works at 1000baseT with another machine,
  hence running self-tests...  I thought this machine used to run at
  1000baseT, weird if I went 5 years without noticing my desktop being
  slow.  Not what this bug report is about, though.

  Appears to be the same problem as someone reported to Redhat a while ago, 
which got marked as fixed for the igb driver

  Not very useful info in their BTS, because the bug that it's a dup of is now 
flagged private, so nobody can even look at it.

   Possibly this is a per-driver thing, unless the right fix is to have
  ethtool save/restore the routing table entries for that iface.

  I am running Lenovo Thinkpad (dual boot Win7 and Ubuntu; Intel)- Wifi worked 
well on 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04.
  Since 13.10 and now on 14.04 Wifi connection runs very slow.
  I have bought a new wireless router and the problems continues.
  The router simply disappears and even booting in windows 7 does not find the 
wifi router.
  If I ran only in win 7 after switching off the PC everything is normal and 
the connection speed is constant.

The errors are safe to ignore.

No, I haven't submitted this upstream.

I though the channel to get this upstreamed will be the bug tracker of
the Linux distribution I'm using.

What lead me to are the links I included in the report above: Users of
Fedora and Opensuse reported similar quirks table additions via these
distributions and got the fixes they proposed  in the Linux tree,

I can try to submit this to the kernel maintainers tree instead, if
that's the correct way.

Title:

Bug description:
  Just upgraded OpenStack compute hosts in our public cloud (using qemu-
  kvm via libvirt) from Precise to Trusty (14.04.1), now on kernel
  3.13.0-36-generic with qemu-kvm 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.5.

  Following the upgrade, whenever we try to start an smp/multicore
  Trusty guest (existing or new), we run into this panic [1] inside the
  guest just towards the end of boot. This happens consistently for smp
  guests using the Trusty kernel (i.e., it also affects earlier Ubuntus
  using the HWE kernel from Trusty but not their native versions). I
  didn't have any other distro images to hand with 3.13.x kernels, but
  none of the others I tested were affected (in the 3.2 - 3.16 kernel
  range).

  There are scarce similar reports out there, but the one we did find
  pointed to a CPU feature as the trigger. We were running these hosts
  with libvirt cpu mode set to host-passthrough (so qemu starts with
  -cpu host), on AMD 6200  6300 Opteron hardware. Switching the guest
  domains to use cpu mode host-model instead works around the issue
  and is perfectly acceptable for most of our users.

In the mainline kernel (not really mainline, because it is an extended
version maintained by Canonical), the problem occurs between 3.13.11.5
and 3.13.11.6. I checked the git logs, but I am not expert enough to
understand which commit may be the cause of the problem. I'll try to git
bisect when I have some time.

from libparted when gparted launches.
  Same issue with another pc x86-64
  Errors retries then ignore, shred /dev/sdi fails:

  I reached to shred the drive from a 12.04.4 i386 pc with no error.

Yes. your build works as expected. But there is a small bug, which I think is 
not directly kernel related.
Same is with my build.

When I boot first time with this kernel, there is no bluetooth indicator. I 
test it like a common user.
Then I go to System settings - bluetooth and enable bluetooth.
The switch turns on and in a second turns off itself. Indicator appears in the 
indicator panel, but greyed out.
If I try again form System settings - no go.
Then if I turn it on from the indicator panel, it turns on and works OK.

This must be related to some other package, I do not know which. Either
way ithe bug is mostly fixed.

Is it 3.13 or 3.16? I think there is no need to patch 3.13 as very soon
3.16 will be default in trusty 14.04.2 and lts-utopic will be suggested
for all trusty users. I tested it on trusty, because I do not have
utipic on this laptop.  It makes no difference as it is a very simple
kernel patch.
