Have had the new BIOS running for a week and have seen the issue recur
several times.
Current workaround is to boot up, and then open [ System Properties -->
Mouse and Touchpad ] mouse properties, where i will only see General
(and not Touchpad). I then close the lid

that has lxd available (it's not yet available in trusty nor the PPA for
arm64).
However, pretty much any LXD task that I do (I haven't
"reboot" also takes too long to be practical (I killed the instance
after waiting for 10 mins, as it didn't even begin to shut down).

Funny thing.
Reboot Ubuntu, don't login. Let the device go to hibernate/sleep.
After awaking the device the mouse still works. So this seems to only
happen, after a user logged in.

I have the same notebook HP EliteBook 8530p, the same version of BIOS as
mentioned here, Kubuntu 15.10 on it and radeon video driver. I have
problems with overheating (definitely related with video card and it's
driver) and I was very glad to find some kind of workaround.

I've pumped over 1.5TB of data and have never seen the hic-up yet. I
think we've found the smoking gun. Below is a simple patch to the tigon
device driver if you prefer not to use the udev rule solution.
I believe the root cause is that the tigon net driver uses virtual
memory for DMA
Should we enable thinkpad_acpi kernel module with this laptop? According
to attached files it is not enabled. I know that this laptop is not real
thinkpad, but maybe this kernel module will change situation in some
way.

A few days ago I have replaced my debian jessie with new ubuntu 15.10 to
make a try and that was suprisingly stable. (I installed debian before
because of ubuntu's freezes.) There were no crashes.
Then I downloaded an app (intel-graphics-installer) from the official
