Screen is constantly dim. Tried updating intel GPU driver, updated from
Ubuntu 14.04 to 15.10, tried various fixes via google search. Nothing
works.

I have a brand new HP 440 G3 (Not 470) and it does exactly the same
problem. I can confirm that the workaround that instructs you to use
stchman's alsa_setup.sh and make 3 force-reloads of alsa works!! But it
is still a very ugly workaround.
