[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1584528] Re: Inspiron 3543 TouchPad cursor jumps to left edge unexpectedly
I just tried 4.4.0-21 from the grub menu and the issue still occurs. If these tests are not what you mean, can you be more specific as to what release I should test? Tom aka w2vy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584528 Title: Inspiron 3543 TouchPad cursor jumps to left edge unexpectedly Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: At times (mostly undetermined) when touching the glide pad to take an action the cursor will jump to the left edge of the screen. I do not recall the system ever taking ACTION based on the click at the new location. ex: side bar opening, etc It may not ever take the action at the ORIGINAL location, I can't be sure since I am only alerted when things don't happen as I expect. If I am using the keyboard to type or scroll (arrows) I have not noticed anything strange. I am not sure if it only happens when attempting a Left click or a Right Click. As a developer I think it is seeing my Click and reading the position incorrectly or hitting some other error condition. I do believe it is a result of my click. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1584528] Re: Inspiron 3543 TouchPad cursor jumps to left edge unexpectedly
I was answering your question in comment #17 My system boots from kernel 4.4.0-31 but in the kernels directory http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D the xenial versions are 4.4.9 through 4.4.9.13 I do have other 4.4.0-x images in my grub menu, will those do as earlier versions? I did try the latest mainline linux-image-4.7.0-040700-generic_4.7.0-040700.201607241632_amd64.deb and the problem still exists tom aka w2vy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584528 Title: Inspiron 3543 TouchPad cursor jumps to left edge unexpectedly Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: At times (mostly undetermined) when touching the glide pad to take an action the cursor will jump to the left edge of the screen. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1530405] Re: NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [kerneloops:814]
I started experiencing this very issue about 3 months ago. My server, Dell XPS 8700, would lock up repeatedly over the course of a day but stay "active", meaning my email server wouldn't crash, for a week sometimes even though I could not log in. This server is at the latest standard upgrades of 14.04 LTS, so whatever kernel version that is. I can say this based on trying to troubleshoot via the internet's recommendations, I have replaced the PSU, to no avail. The thing that appears to have solved the issue is to remove the video card, thus rendering the nouveu driver inoperable. In the past four days I have not seen one NMI Watchdog Soft Lockup error in my syslog. Granted I have to run my video through the built in video card, I am fine with that. I know there is a lot of logic in an OS kernel and I am just one case but perhaps this will provide some insight when troubleshooting this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530405 Title: NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1575957] Re: huion tablet is not recognized anymore in Ubuntu 16.04
My Huion 1060Plus tablet stopped working after upgrading from 15.10 to 16.04. I consulted this thread, and several others. The previously suggested remedy of sudo rmmod hid_uclogic && sudo insmod /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-uclogic.ko did not work for me. I tried removing digimend-dkms_6_all.deb; that did not help, nor did re-adding the package. What helped : I used apt-file to determine that /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-uclogic.ko was owned by linux-image-extra-$(uname -r)-generic. I then did apt-get install --reinstall linux-image-extra-$(uname -r)-generic, and rebooted. Now, the tablet, the pen, really, worked. xinput_calibrator --list shows : Device "1060PRO Pen" id=14 The tablet, which was present under 15.10 is not showing up. Perhaps if I re-install the digimend-dkms package it might, but, at this point, most of the functionality I need is present. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575957 Title: huion tablet is not recognized anymore in Ubuntu 16.04 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Gaomon 860T tablet was being used normally and also recognized automatically in Ubuntu 15.10. Using upstream kernel 4.7.0-040700-generic, I did not observe SCSI bus resets, but did observe a single instance of I/O related "hung task" messages in dmesg, which are attached, during heavy read/write load. I could not reproduce the message on subsequent attempts. ** Attachment added: "1584557-upstream.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1584557/+attachment/4710575/+files/1584557-upstream.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584557 Title: Seagate external drive causes SCSI bus resets when UAS enabled Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Seagate STEA1000400 external USB hard disk (USB ID 0bc2:2322) causes continuous SCSI bus resets by default. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1607571] Re: No network devices after suspend and resume
adin, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product- support/product/alienware-17-r3/drivers an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (1.2.15). When you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the situation? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. Also, you don't have to create a new report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on how this improves the situation. 3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. Currently running various kernels, unfortunately we have to rebuild parts of our test environment because it seems like cheap SSDs dont like 600TB writen to them... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470250 Title: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups Status in linux package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in linux source package in Trusty: In Progress Status in linux source package in Vivid: In Progress Status in linux source package in Wily: In Progress Status in linux source package in Xenial: In Progress Status in linux source package in Yakkety: In Progress Bug description: Customers have reported running various versions of Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS on Generation 2 Hyper-V Hosts. On a random Basis, the file system will be mounted Read-Only due to a "disk error" (which really isn't the case here). As a result, they must reboot the Ubuntu guest to get the file system to mount RW again. This relates to the VSS "Windows Server Backup" process that kicks off at midnight on the host and finishes an hour and half later. Yes, we do have hv_vss_daemon and hv_kvp_daemon running for the correct kernel version we have. We're currently running kernel version 3.13.0-49-generic #83 on one system and 3.16.0-34-generic #37 on the other. -- We see the same errors on both. As a result, we've been hesitant to drop any more ubuntu guests on our 2012R2 hyper-v system because of this. We can stop the backup process and all is good, but we need nightly backups to image all of our VM's. All the windows guests have no issues of course. We also have some CentOS based guests running without issues from what we've seen. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1566302] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16
Hi, I also had the "hang after suspend problem" immediately after I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 1501 from Ubuntu 14.04, to 15.1, then to 16.01 (all 32bit versions). I found an easy workaround (for now) that eliminates my "blank screen" hang after suspend: Just got into "System | Brightness and Lock", and set "Turn screen off when inactive for" to "Never". Btw, I see above that users are uploading a txt file with their system details. I would gladly do that if someone wants to show me how or point me to a how-to url. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1521173] Re: AER: Corrected error received: id=00e0
WiFi can be fixed by this: Create a conf file for Wifi: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf Write in it: options rtl8723be fwlps=N ips=N Save and reboot. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 596269] Re: LCD backlight stays off after resume
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/596269 Title: LCD backlight stays off after resume Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The LCD backlight often stays off after resume and less often after opening the lid when it has been closed for a long time. The "vbetools dmps on", brightness controls, switching virtual consoles do not have any effect. Shutdown and restart usually don't fix the problem either. The only reliable way to get the backlight on again is to disconnect power, take out the battery, press the power button for a few seconds, put the battery back and then switch the computer on again. I found that solution at one of the forums. The very reliable way to reproduce the problem is: 1. Set the "When laptop lid is closed" action in the On AC Power tab of the Power Management Preferences dialogue to Blank Screen, set that action to Suspend in the On Battery Power tab. 2. Close the lid when connected to the power supply. 3. Disconnect the power supply: laptop goes to the sleep mode. 4. Open the lid: Laptop wakes up, but the backlight stays off. The closest bug report I found is: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/580225 I am using Dell XPS m1330 with Intel integrated graphics (GM965). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1608020] [NEW] system shut down when upower is restarted
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1590244 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590244 Public bug reported: My UPS (APC Back-UPS ES 700) is somehow slow to report it's capacity when upower starts, and this causes upower to shut down the system when it thinks the battery is empty on daemon restart. upower should have a grace period on startup, or if it has one, it should be longer (like 30s?) ** Affects: upower (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => upower (Ubuntu) ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1590244 Upgrading upower package caused forced reboot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1608020 Title: system shut down when upower is restarted Status in upower package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: My UPS (APC Back-UPS ES 700) is somehow slow to report it's capacity when upower starts, and this causes upower to shut down the system when it thinks the battery is empty on daemon restart. upower should have a grace period on startup, or if it has one, it should be longer (like 30s?)
