[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1624765] Re: wifi broke after 16.04 upgrade
Hello Joseph, Thanks for looking into the fix. Sorry for late reply as I was busy traveling. You asked me to install 4.4 so I just tried to install it but during install it failed and so I reported a new bug at : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1635904 So, how to move forward? Here are the errors trying to install headers. (Installing image worked fine): sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-4.4.14-040414-generic_4.4.14-040414.201606241434_amd64.deb (Reading database ... 331190 files and directories currently installed.) My wifi was working fine in previous version. But, after upgrade wifi broke. It won't show any wifi networks and I couldn't enable wifi from ubuntu panel on top right corner. I tried almost all suggestions in this page and few other askubuntu pages with same problem: http://askubuntu.com/questions/62166/siocsifflags-operation-not-possible-due-to-rf-kill But, nothing worked. Here is my console output: ~$ sudo rfkill list 0: dell-rbtn: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: yes 1: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no 7: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no Then, I ran "sudo rfkill unblock wifi" but that didn't fix anything. Finally, the only thing that worked was: sudo modprobe -r dell-rbtn I don't even know if this is the right way to fix it. Please fix the 16.04 kernel and OS upgrade package so that other users don't face this problem that cost me 2 days. Thank you. However, thing don't quite work as expected. I can use the car's system to place a call using the phone, but The audio is not getting properly routed. After placing the call, I can't hear any sounds (not even the "ringing" noise), I don't get any feedback after the other person has answered the phone, and the other person can't hear me either. Furthermore, Long after the other person has hung up the call, the phone still looks like the call is ongoing (I have to manually disconnect it). I can also use the system to answer an incoming call, but the sympthoms are the same. No audio on either end. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1621719] Re: Black screen when resuming laptop from sleep
Evidently the bug I filed is a duplicate of this (1634242), also with T420s laptops. But I don't even have to put them machines to sleep or even wait. All I have to do is lock the laptop and it crashes. FYI, I don't get this with Ubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome, or any other derivatives. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1608042] Re: 64-bit XUbuntu 16.04 "Xenial" hybrid graphics (Intel + AMD): AMDGPU crashes / freezes / hangs entire system
I'm with a Dell Inspiron 5447 (Radeon R7 M265) and just updated my system, now It's using the kernel 4.4.0-45-generic and the problem is still happening. My system is crashing entirely if I log out from my user, for example. I know I can fix it by using a newer kernel package from Mainline but i don't want to use nothing that's not in the main repositories. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1608042 Title: 64-bit XUbuntu 16.04 "Xenial" hybrid graphics (Intel + AMD): AMDGPU crashes / freezes / hangs entire system Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Xenial: Triaged Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu source package in Xenial: Confirmed Bug description: COMPUTER: Dell Inspiron 5548 laptop CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz GRAPHICS: Intel-AMD hybrid: - CPU-integrated: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U Integrated Graphics (driver: i915) - GPU: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. I have Xscreensaver installed and noticed that when it's running an OpenGL animation (screensaver) and I move the touchpad pointer the screen freezes. I can still turn the keyboard LED backlight on and off (hence: keyboard doesn't stop working) but the pointer won't move (touchpad is locked) and I can't Ctrl-Alt-F[1-6] (switch TTY/terminals). Only solution is to power off my laptop (press and hold the power button). I usually select the "Molecule" screensaver (it uses OpenGL), then I click the "preview" button and wait for about 20 seconds, then I click the touchpad and the computer hangs. When I used XUbuntu 14.04 "Trusty" with AMD's fglrx (proprietary) driver I didn't experience such issue. After upgrading to 16.04 "Xenial" (which doesn't support fglrx module/driver) amdgpu module is loaded by default but very frequently hangs the entire system. Sometimes I'm quick enough to go to TTYS1 and then I get to see some messages such as "HARD LOCKUP on CPU0" and "HARD LOCKUP on CPU1". However, it's not a hardware problem because I've already executed the Dell Hardware Diagnostics straight from the boot (it's an EFI utility), it tested all the hardware components (CPU, GPU, RAM, keyboard, touchpad, hard disk etc.) and didn't detect any faulty component. The attached file "amdgpu-bug.txt" is the reason why I'm pretty convinced that the problem is being caused by the amdgpu driver (although it seems to be related to how it interacts with the kernel, thus maybe the problem is kernel-related). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1629204] Re: Autofs parameter substitution broken in kernel 4.4.0-38 and 4.4.0-40
The recent update was outside of the normal SRU release cycle to fix a serious security issue and contained only the security fix. There is a new -proposed kernel (4.4.0-46.67) which contains the fix for this bug, and barring any other unforeseen circumstances it will be released according to the original SRU schedule, on Oct 31. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629204 Title: Autofs parameter substitution broken in kernel 4.4.0-38 and 4.4.0-40 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Xenial: Fix Committed Status in linux source package in Yakkety: Fix Released Bug description: SRU Justification Impact: ca6fe3344554 "fs: Call d_automount with the filesystems creds" causes a regression in the requester uid and gid passed to userspace during automount, as the current credentials during automount are those of root and not the user who requested the mount. Fix: Use current->real_cred instead of current->cred for getting the requester's uid and gid. Regression Potential: Minimal. current->cred and current->real_cred are the same except when credentials are overridden, thus current->real_cred contains the same credentials that autofs had been using prior to the change which overrides the credentials during automount. --- Hello, I have run into a bug relating autofs's parameter substitution (e.g. UID, GID, etc) with kernel versions 4.4.0-38 and proposed 4.4.0-40. Kernel version 4.4.0-28 does things correctly but testing intermediate kernel versions is hard due to earlier bugs related with fs's. Incorrect parameter substitution makes CIFS mounting with variable credentials impossible. Wat was expected: $UID in autofs map are substituted by the uid of the user that starts the auto-mounting process. What actually happens: Root's uid (0) is substituted instead. This ill parameter substitution likely caused by recent fixes resolving permissions problems for nfs/cifs mounts and dfs referrals (#1626112 and #1612135). And possibly the fix 'fs: Call d_automount with the filesystems creds' but that is a wild guess. Furthermore; playing with the force_standard_program_map_env settings in autofs.conf and prefixing variables with 'AUTOFS_' does not solve anything. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1635186] Re: boot stalls on USB detection errors
My (first) attempt at building a mainline kernel was not completely successful. The system booted to the login screen but when I entered the password I got a couple of test patterns and was then returned to the login screen. This was however enough to confirm that the bug exists upstream. In the copious documentation I have read on the bug reporting process I could not find anything describing how to add a tag to a bug report. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635186 Title: boot stalls on USB detection errors Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Motherboard is BIOSTAR G41D3+ Bug introduced on upgrade from 3.19.0-66-generic to 4.4.0-34-generic and still present in 4.4.0-36-generic. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1622167] Re: ALPS touchpad driver doesn't work
I've now tried the 4.8 kernel as suggested. It booted into busybox at initramfs, so I was unable to determine anything useful about it. I also tried the latest 4.9 kernel. That booted, but produced continuous beeps from the loudspeaker and neither the keyboard nor the point worked. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1622167 Title: ALPS touchpad driver doesn't work Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: First, the collected kernel version is wrong. I'm running 4.4.0-36-generic, but inside ubuntu 14.04. Anyway, the touchpad refuses to act as a pointer mover. It will, if I let it, do tap to click (which is the last thing I want). But, as things stand, I'm forced to use the little button in the middle of the keyboard. Supposedly the 3.19 kernel was going to install a proper driver for the ALPS touchpad, and whilst at least I'm not now stuck with the generic driver and unable to turn off tap to click, I no longer have pointer movement. In the relevant bit of /proc I can see N: Name="AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad" xinput shows this jon@harada:~$ xinput ⎡ Virtual core pointerid=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick id=11 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPadid=12 [slave pointer (2)] so I assume there is a real driver at work. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1590844] Re: Bluetooth headset not working with Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition
I just wanted to say that i can confirm that issue on the Pro5. I have two Pro5 and also a MX4. The MX4 works fine in my car when connected to the bluetooth (well except that sometimes the mic gets muted for whatever reason) Both Pro5 instead cant be used for telephoning in the car by connected through BT. You can only hear soughing instead of the participant so its not useable. As this bug is on critical anyway i dont need to state again that this is a major one. If i can do anything to help you guys please let me know, like i said i have a working BT on MX4 and soughing BT on both Pro5. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590844 Title: Bluetooth headset not working with Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in turbo: Confirmed Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My bluetooth headset perfectly connects to my Meizu Pro 5.
