The author of CX2072X support didn't resend a new patch to address also
maintainer's concern [1].

Oh, it might be worth mentioning - on the boots where I wouldn't see
anything, adding the fbcon=map:1 parameter to the kernel command line
gives a usable system - the console and X¹ both come up correctly.
¹: For X there's an additional wrinkle in that the hybrid graphics
detection in gpu-detect
NOTE: That these are systems using the pcc-cpufreq and acpi-cpufreq
drivers.

I have some more things to add.
On 4.10, if you reboot or shut down as soon as you can, it works, but it
continues to make the bios screen freeze.
I don't know if is 16.04 or a >4.4 kernel that is causing this, but it's
still present on 4.10.

kernel.org, manually added the line that fixes this bug with a text

Attached is the output of lspci -vvvnn command. This is taken on
4.13.0-041300-generic which had bnxt_en 1.7.0 driver.
