Being able to reproduce this on ltc-boston113 seems to have been a temporary
condition. I can no longer reproduce there, Pegas or Ubuntu. Without some idea
of what external conditions are causing this, it will be very difficult
you could preseed your installer to install the kernel in the PPA. I
have not tested the instructions below.. but should give you an idea how
to preseed. From your comment above looks like you might not have a
booting system to be able to install the new kernel etc.
Assuming you are using a netboo
The kernel version is not the issue with this use case. This is already
fixed with kdump-tools on bionic. Please test it on bionic and confirm
it's fixed there.

Would it be possible to release the firmware 1.5 for us to re-upgrade?

I didn't test the patch in comment #2 directly. It's very similar to
the one I posted in comment #1 (which I've tested), so I'm pretty
confident it would work. I'd be happy to try out a test kernel though.

I just noticed this. my bluetooth keyboard appears to be reporting the battery
status while the bluetooth mouse doesn't.
This wasnt the case earlier and both were reporting 0%.
To clarify on the timeline:
ubuntu 17.10 - both were reporting correctly.
after installation of 18.04, both stopped.
