Indeed it got overwritten on the update! My "5.4.0-42-generic" also
started to freeze.
Because before (and now again after the update) the "sof-cfl.ri" was just a
symbolic link to "sof-cnl.ri" which is a symbolic link to
"signed/sof-cnl-signed-intel.ri".
I put the new "sof-cfl.ri" now and "5.4
And for those who have the Synaptics touchpad, I've found a way to make
the touchpad almost work. You can apply the following patch which will
make kernel use hid-rmi handle the device without blacklisting hid-
mulitouch,

I just saw this again on 5.8.0-18-generic, and this time I did not
manually modify my networking state; I installed the new kernel and
rebooted into it, and the problem exhibited immediately. (Fortunately,
for whatever reason, a reboot into Windows and back to -18 _has_ come up
with networking, so
