[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1787209] Re: bumblebee + nouveau crash in nvkm_pmu_init

2022-02-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested
in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the
latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still
present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling
us which new version it is in.

P.S. The same crash is reported in bug 1961460.

2022-02-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

It's the 'nouveau' kernel driver crashing here. To avoid that please use
the 'Additional Drivers' app to install the proprietary Nvidia driver
instead.

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => linux-hwe-5.13 (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1961121] Re: Not able to enter s2idle state on AMD platforms

2022-02-20 Thread Alex Hung
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

AMD Systems don't enter PC6 at runtime and cause failures to enter
  s2idle.

Currently the fix is from kernel driver rather than MP2 firmware, which
disable interrupts from kernel driver to fix MP2 firmware blocking
  CPUOFF.

  [Fix]

+ The fixes involve 1) cancelling delayed work when entering s0ix and re-
+ scheduling it when resuming from s0ix, and 2) clearing interrupts during
+ the driver initialization and sensor command operations.
+
  [Test]

+ This is requested by AMD and was tested on AMD CRB.
+
  [Where problems could occur]
+
+ Risk is low to medium. Some code flow changes are guarded by reasonable
+ conditions, but the fixes introduced additional suspend and resume
+ operations.
+
+ Having said that, clearing interrupts before driver initialization and
+ cancelling work before entering sleeping states are standard approaches
+ are usually safe.

Title:
[amdgpu] Random noise 'static' display after internal display turned
  off/on

Status in linux-hwe-5.13 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Laptop internal display shows random looking 'static' after it's
turned off and then on again. e.g. on suspend/resume, or when
  plugging/unplugging an external monitor.

This appeared to come after a `dist-upgrade` took the kernel from
  5.11.0-44 to 5.13.0-25 (hwe).

Others are seeing this with both NVidia and AMD graphics hardware:
  -
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/s8c83w/laptop_shows_static_screen_after_going_into_lock/
  -
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/s8fit0/please_help_static_noise_display_on_ubuntu_2004/

I use i3 under gnome-flashback, but tried using default Ubuntu/Gnome
both X and Wayland, and gnome-flashback/metacity. All showed the same
  problem.

Also tried an `apt install --reinstall xserver-xorg-video-radeon
libdrm-radeon1` for luck - no joy.

Running a 20.04.3 live stick the problem does *not* occur.

The latest thermald version, 2.4.8, does not have this issue. Thermald
versions prior to 2.4.8 do have this issue. See:

The version of thermald should be updated to 2.4.8, or the code that
fixes this issue in 2.4.8 should be backported to the thermald
  versions in current Ubuntu versions.

The same issue on ubuntu 20.04(5.13.0-30) on Yoga slim 9 14ITL

Putting "i915.enable_psr=0" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT fixed issues
such as rendering, screen tearing, delaying.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1959194] Re: zfs mount is error free but no directory is present

2022-02-20 Thread geole0
Hello.
i have solved the problem by writing
zfs mount -v $(zfs list | grep ROOT/ubuntu | head -1 |cut -d" " -f1)
zfs mount -v $(zfs list | grep BOOT/ubuntu | head -1 |cut -d" " -f1)
But i don't kwnow if it is the goodQ- solution.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1961429] Re: ACPI BIOS Error: problem loading UEFI X.509 certificate

2022-02-20 Thread Lex Ross
Attached is DSDT dump produced by SSDTTime utility
(https://github.com/corpnewt/SSDTTime). I then decompiled the file with
"iasl " command.

It turns out that _SB.PCI0 and _SB.PC00.DGPV are missing. And it worth
mentioning that the brightness control hot keys are not functioning
(producing no ACPI events and no codes).
