Title:
[ASUS N550JK] After a system reboot, the audio seems muted until one
  raises the level above 50%

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Sometimes when I play a clip (be it a Video, song or a radiostation,
it doesn't matter) and I have the volume lowered to 10% I can't hear
any sound whatsoever. Not until I raise the volume with Fn + F12 (F12
has a speaker icon on it to raise the volume).

It's as if PulseAudio is muted until I raise the volume.

Bug description:
  This is upstream tracking bug:
  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216158

The bug originates from an upstream bug, and the ubuntu users request
me to do a SRU to make the ubuntu linux work on their Asus laptops, so
once the pathces are merge to mainline kernel, I start to prepare this
  SRU.

  [Impact]
Some Asus laptops config the IRQ of keyboard in the BIOS, but kernel
will override to a new configuration for that IRQ, this will make the
keyboard not work anymore under linux.

  [Fix]
Backport 2 patches from mainlie kernel to fix this problem.

  [Test]
boot the patched kernel on the machine, test the keyboard, all
  regular keys could work.

  [Where problems could occur]
The patches use the dmi table to match the machines, so only the
matched Asus laptops will be impacted by the patches, if there is
any regression, the regression only affects those matched Asus
laptops, and the regression possibility is very low since ubuntu
users already tested the patches on their own Asus laptops.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1996121] Re: alsa: soc: the kernel print UBSAN calltrace on the machine with cs35l41 codec

Title:
alsa: soc: the kernel print UBSAN calltrace on the machine with
  cs35l41 codec

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress
Status in linux source package in Jammy:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The cs35l41 codec driver was backported to Jammy kernel a couple of
months ago, recently the Jammy kernel was adopted as the hwe kernel
for OEM machines and with this kernel the UBSAN calltrace was seen,
need to backport these 2 patches. Kinetic kernel already has the
patches, so this SRU is only for Jammy kernel.

  [Impact]
Install the 5.15 hwe kernel on the machines with cs35l41
codec, after booting and check the dmesg, there is a UBSAN calltrace.

  [Fix]
Backport 2 patches from mainlie kernel to fix this problem.

  [Test]
boot the patched kernel on the machine, check the dmesg, there
is no UBSAN calltrace, and test the audio functions, all input
and output devices coudl work as well as before.

  [Where problems could occur]
The patch only affects the cirruslogic asoc codec driver, if it
could introduce the regression, it will be on the machines with
cs codec, and it will make the audio driver initialization fail
and make the system lose the audio function. But this possibility
is very low, we tested the patches on many oem machines, all
  worked well.

Added Linux kernel remote branch for Kinetic raspi to test with 22.04
install (both master and master-next branches). When running "make
clean" noticed error referencing "hio" driver that's been removed from
  Jammy kernels:

  $ make clean

  Author: Thomas Lamprecht
  Date: Sat Mar 12 16:19:10 2022 +0100

Ubuntu: remove leftover reference to ubuntu/hio driver

A single reference to the hio driver was forgotten when it was removed
recently. While this reference is not a problem for the build itself, it
breaks the __clean target from 'scripts/Makefile.clean' here, as make
cannot enter the "ubuntu/hio" folder for cleaning due to ENOENT.

The mic mute/audio mute LEDS are not work on HP ProBook Notebook PC

  [Fix]
It needs the specific quirk for the hardware layout.
Thus, add the quirks to make it works.

  [Test]
Apply this patch on OEM-6.0, and after applying the quirk, the audio/mic mute
LEDs are working good.

  [Where problems could occur]
If HP ships the different system boards design with the same subsystem ID of
audio codec which is using different GPIO pins (different layout), then the
quirk will not work (LEDs will not work when muting audio-output or microphone).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1981433] Re: [Asus Zenbook UX3402ZA] Sound doesn't work at all

2023-01-27 Thread Azzy
Wanted to chime in and say that I'm running Pop!_OS (based on Ubuntu)
22.04LTS with kernel 6.0.12-76060006-generic, still getting no sound
from the built in speakers. Like everyone else, Gnome settings sees a
speaker and correctly puts sound through sof-hda-dsp, but there is no
sound. Wired and bluetooth headphones work just fine, as well as the
microphone. I can give more information if needed.

Scouring the internet, this seems to be an issue affecting all distros,
I look forward to a fix (and would like to help however I can!)

  --

  SRU Justification:

  [Impact]

  * Without Kernel support for the Dummy net driver, it is not possible
to successfully run selftests that use it. This includes as per this
bug net/fib_nexthop_nongw.sh, but also could potentially include other
  such as rtnetlink.sh, fib_rule_tests.sh, forwarding/* etc.

  [Fix]

  * Custom patch to enable CONFIG_DUMMY=m

  [Test Plan]

  * Before the fix, the net/fib_nexthop_nongw.sh script will fail in the
  specific line which does

$ ip -n h1 link add name eth0 type dummy
  Error: Unknown device type.

After the fix it does not fail.

  [Where problems could occur]

  * The regression can be considered as low, since we are adding
  functionality not previously present.

  [Other Info]

  * There does not seem to be a historical reason for removing it from
  linux-kvm.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1993318] Re: ZFS + Encryption installations of Ubuntu Desktop do not come up correctly on first boot, systemd unmounts many of the zfs volumes

2023-01-27 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Aaron, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubiquity into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/22.04.19 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Bug description:
This is *probably* the wrong package, but it's the best I can figure
  for this, so here goes.

Hardware: Kubuntu Focus XE, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 11th Gen Intel Core
i5, UEFI, no secure boot. Testing done in GNOME Boxes, BIOS, 4 GB RAM,
50 GB disk space . OS is Ubuntu Desktop, Kinetic Final ISO.

  [Testcase]

  tl;dr encrypted-zfs, firstboot, `systemctl daemon-reload` must not
unmount half of mountpoints, ie. /var/lib.

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Boot the Ubuntu desktop ISO.
  2. Select "Install Ubuntu" and proceed with the installation process.
  3. When you get to the "Installation type" screen, select "Advanced Options",
and enable ZFS + Encryption.
  4. Proceed with the rest of the installation as normal.
  5. Reboot into the newly installed system.
  6. Log in.
  7. Run "sudo apt update" in a terminal.

Expected result: The package database should be updated normally.

Actual result: You are presented with the following errors at the end
  of the apt output:

  Reading package lists... Error!
E: flAbsPath on /var/lib/dpkg/status failed - realpath (2: No such file or
directory)
E: Could not open file - open (2: No such file or directory)
  E: Problem opening
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Notes: Switching to a TTY will print a crash error message related to
the same missing /var/lib/dpkg/status file. Running "sudo touch
/var/lib/dpkg/status" will allow "sudo apt update" to function and fix
the crashed process in the TTY.

  [End Testcase]

Once you log in, you'll notice that Firefox is missing (bug #1993279),
and you will likely be presented with a ton of error messages and
other scary junk. At least one of those error messages was related to
update-manager in my experience, and another one was from "check-new-
  release-gtk".

System only can reach PC3, and it affects power consumption alot.

  [Fix]
Kaiheng implemented a dynamic ASPM for r8169, it not only fixes the PC state
issue, but also fixes network speed issue.
  V7:

https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/netdevbpf/patch/20211016075442.650311-5-kai.heng.f...@canonical.com/
  V6:

https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/linux-pci/cover/20211007161552.272771-1-kai.heng.f...@canonical.com/

  [Test]
Verified on 2 different systems which has PC state issue and has network
speed issue, these patches fix both issues.

  [Where problems could occur]
It toggles ASPM on and off depends on the network traffic during runtime, I
don't think it'll lead to any regressions. Some potential issues have been
addressed during the patch submitting. It's v6 now and accepted by upstream.

  [Fix]
The interlaced mode is not supported for Intel Gen 12 onwards.
Disable interlaced mode for DP on Display >= 12.

Due to schedule, SRU for OEM kernels first.
After these patches are merged to mainline/drmtip kernel, will SRU for
generic kernels.

  [Test Case]
1.Connected two external Monitor to the onboard HDMI/DP port .
  2.Boot OS.
2.set mirror mode. (onboard HDMI / onboard DP)
  3.check if screen shakes.

Low, Remove interlace support for Display >= 12 so it wouldn't cause a
regression.

  [Fix]

The t7xx driver once received following fixes to complete its functions in
  v6.1-rc1:

d20ef656f994 net: wwan: t7xx: Add AP CLDMA
007f26f0d68e net: wwan: t7xx: Infrastructure for early port configuration

device
suspend in a minimum level for development. Then, in this bug 2002089, a fully
  revised resubmission is now available.

An additional patch from v6.1, commit bb67012331f7 ("net: devlink:

and run suspend/resume tests to ensure bug 1990700 is still in a good
  state.

  [Where problems could occur]

This re-introduce the device firmware update support via devlink, so far
it has been tested many times from 3rd party/vendor, but might still
bump into platform compatibility issue as we have here.

  [Other Info]

While this is only planned for oem-6.0/oem-6.1 and on, only U/L/OEM-6.x
  are nominated for fix.

[ 3.632963] mtk_t7xx :71:00.0: Invalid device status 0x1

  [Fix]

The t7xx driver once received following fixes to complete its functions in
  v6.1-rc1:

d20ef656f994 net: wwan: t7xx: Add AP CLDMA
007f26f0d68e net: wwan: t7xx: Infrastructure for early port configuration
140424d90165 net: wwan: t7xx: PCIe reset rescan
87dae9e70bf7 net: wwan: t7xx: Enable devlink based fw flashing and coredump
 collection
b0bc1709b768 net: wwan: t7xx: Devlink documentation

However it was soon reverted for a second revision. Before that, in bug
1990700
we need the first (reverted) patch "net: wwan: t7xx: Add AP CLDMA" to fix
device
suspend in a minimum level for development. Then, in this bug 2002089, a fully
  revised resubmission is now available.

An additional patch from v6.1, commit bb67012331f7 ("net: devlink:
extend info_get() version put to indicate a flash component"), is
  necessary for oem-6.0 backport.

  [Test Case]

Modprobe on new platforms that suffers this invalid device status issue,
and run suspend/resume tests to ensure bug 1990700 is still in a good
  state.

  [Where problems could occur]

This re-introduce the device firmware update support via devlink, so far
it has been tested many times from 3rd party/vendor, but might still
bump into platform compatibility issue as we have here.

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]

  [Impact]
The Dell Latitude 5430 with Realtek audio codec ALC3254 fail to detect the
headphone microphone and thus unable to record audio.

  [Fix]
The realtek audio quirk ALC269_FIXUP_DELL4_MIC_NO_PRESENCE is required since
the NID used for headphone microphone should be 0x1b instead of 0x1a, which is
used for former ALC225/295 variants.

  [Test Case]
  1. Plug in the headphone microphone on the problematic Dell Latitude 5430
laptop
  2. Make sure it's detected in Audio Settings. (pulseaudio)
  3. Record the sound via the headphone microphone and check the recorded
content.

  [Where problems could occur]
No. Since the audio fixup is only applied on the machine with particular
subsystem ID.

  [Other Info]
This is not yet available in mainline kernel but in linux-next, and need to
be applied after SRU lp:2000909

speaker mute event is sent by EC then dell-wmi can't recognize it.

Add a new keymap for KEY_MUTE.

Send for OEM kernels first then will SRU for generic kernel once the

  2. Play video/audio.
  3. Press the speak-mute hotkey
  4. can't hear any sounds.

  [Impact]

   * Secure boot of Linux on s390x will no longer be possible
with an upcoming IBM zSystems firmware update.

  [Fix]

   * aa127a069ef3 aa127a069ef312aca02b730d5137e1778d0c3ba7 "s390/boot: add
secure boot trailer"
     for kinetic and jammy

   *
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/633020900/0001-s390-boot-add-secure-boot-trailer.patch
     backport for focal

  [Test Plan]

   * An IBM z15 or LinuxONE III LPAR with zFCP/SCSI disk storage is
  required.

   * Ensure that 'Enable Secure Boot for Linux' is marked in case
'SCSI Load' is selected at the HMCs Load task and Activation Profile.

   * Perform an Ubuntu Server installation, either 20.04 or 22.04
     (latest ISO).
It will be a secure boot installation by default in case
'Enable Secure Boot for Linux' was marked.

   * Check sysfs:
     /sys/firmware/ipl/has_secure
'1' indicates hw support for secure boot, otherwise '0'
     /sys/firmware/ipl/secure
'1' indicates that secure IPL was successful, otherwise '0'

   * Navigate to the HMC task 'System information'
and check the active firmware release.

   * Ensure that Ubuntu is still bootable in secure-boot mode
     with the updated firmware active,
by for example doing a reboot after the firmware upgrade.

   * There is also a way to test the trailer on systems that do not
have the updated firmware yet - in this case use the following script:
 https://launchpadlibrarian.net/633126861/check_sb_trailer.sh

  [Where problems could occur]

   * The 'trailer' might be broken, invalid or in a wrong format
and can't be identified or read properly,
or may cause issues while compressing/decompressing the kernel.

   * In worst case secure boot might become broken,
even on systems that are still on the unpatched firmware level.

   * Or secure boot will become broken in general.

  [Other Info]

   * The above commit was upstream accepted with v6.1-rc3.

   * And it got tagged for upstream stable with:
     "Cc: # 5.2+"

   * But since this bug is marked as critical, and the patch is relatively
short, traceable and s390x-specific, I'll go ahead and submit this
patch for Jammy and Focal ahead of upstream stable.

   * Since on focal file 'vmlinux.lds.S' is at a different location
     'arch/s390/boot/compressed/' instead of 'arch/s390/boot/'
and the context is slightly different, the backport is needed.

   * It's planned to have kernel 6.2 in lunar (23.04), hence it will have
the patch incl. when at the planned target level.

  __

Description: boot: Add secure boot trailer
Symptom: Secure boot of Linux will no longer be possible with an
upcoming
     IBM Z firmware update.

Problem: New IBM Z firmware requires signed bootable images to contain a
trailing data block with a specific format.

Solution: Add the trailing data block to the Linux kernel image.

Reproduction: Apply latest firmware, perform IPL with Secure Boot
  enabled.

  Fix: available upstream with
  Upstream-ID: aa127a069ef312aca02b730d5137e1778d0c3ba7

Some Dell laptops where booting with Thunderbolt/USB4 devices connected the
BIOS leaves some of
the PCIe devices unconfigured. The kernel message shows "No bus number
available for hot-added bridge". The connected devices can't be found.

  [Fix]
Current linux PCI distribute the "spare" resources between hotplug ports on
hot-add but have not done that upon the initial scan. The patches make the
initial root bus scan path to do the same. The additional patches are just a
small cleanups that can be applied separately too.

  [Test]
  1. Power on the machine with Thunderbolt/USB4 devices connected.
  2. Check the kernel message to see if "No bus number available for hot-added
bridge" shows up or not.
  3. Check if the Thunderbolt/USB4 devices works or not.

  [Where problems could occur]
The patches only apply the same procedures on initial root bus scan which was
not done. If the BIOS configures the PCI correctly, everything is OK. It only
takes effect for the BIOS w/ unconfigured PCIe devices.

Current code produces a warning as shown below when total characters
in the constituent block device names plus the slashes exceeds 200.
snprintf() returns the number of characters generated from the given
input, which could cause the expression “200 – len” to wrap around
to a large positive number. Fix this by using scnprintf() instead,
which returns the actual number of characters written into the buffer.

  [Fix]
Fix this by switching from using regulatory_set_wiphy_regd_sync() to
regulatory_set_wiphy_regd(). Now cfg80211 will schedule another workqueue
which
handles the locking on it's own. So the ath11k workqueue can simply exit
without
taking any locks, avoiding the deadlock.

  [Test]
Verified on hardware, stress reboot and suspend 30 times OK.

  [Where problems could occur]
It may break ath11k wifi driver.

  [Impact]

   * Secure boot of Linux on s390x will no longer be possible
with an upcoming IBM zSystems firmware update.

  [Fix]

   * aa127a069ef3 aa127a069ef312aca02b730d5137e1778d0c3ba7 "s390/boot: add
secure boot trailer"
     for kinetic and jammy

   *
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/633020900/0001-s390-boot-add-secure-boot-trailer.patch
     backport for focal

   * Check sysfs:

Reproduction: Apply latest firmware, perform IPL with Secure Boot
  enabled.

  Fix: available upstream with
  Upstream-ID: aa127a069ef312aca02b730d5137e1778d0c3ba7

alsa: soc: the kernel print UBSAN calltrace on the machine with
  cs35l41 codec

But this possibility
is very low, we tested the patches on many oem machines, all
  worked well.

platform/x86: hp_wmi: Fix rfkill causing soft blocked wifi

After upgrading BIOS to U82 01.02.01 Rev.A, the console is flooded
strange char "^@" which printed out every second and makes login
nearly impossible. Also the below messages were shown both in console
  and journal/dmesg every second:

usb 1-3: Device not responding to setup address.
usb 1-3: device not accepting address 4, error -71
  usb 1-3: device descriptor read/all, error -71
usb usb1-port3: unable to enumerate USB device

Wifi is soft blocked by checking rfkill. When unblocked manually,
after few seconds it would be soft blocked again. So I was suspecting
something triggered rfkill to soft block wifi. At the end it was
  fixed by removing hp_wmi module.

The root cause is the way hp-wmi driver handles command 1B on
post-2009 BIOS. In pre-2009 BIOS, command 1Bh return 0x4 to indicate
that BIOS no longer controls the power for the wireless devices.

anyone running a laptop with obsolete pre-2009 BIOS probably won't

Bug description:
  [ Impact ]

   * Kernels have a set of builtin trusted and revoked certificates as a bundle
   * It is not very easy to access them, one needs to either download linux
kernel package source code; or boot the kernel look up builtin hashes; and then
find certificates externally
   * It would be more convenient for inspection to expose these in the
buildinfo package, which already exposes auxiliary kernel information

  [ Test Plan ]

   * sudo apt install linux-buildinfo-$(uname -r)
   * check that /usr/lib/linux/$(uname -r)/canonical-certs.pem exists and
contains livepatch cert
   * check that /usr/lib/linux/$(uname -r)/canonical-uefi-2012-all.pem exists
and contains 2012 cert

  Example output:
  $ grep Subject: -r usr/lib/linux
  usr/lib/linux/5.19.0-24-generic/canonical-certs.pem:Subject: CN =
Canonical Ltd. Live Patch Signing
  usr/lib/linux/5.19.0-24-generic/canonical-certs.pem:Subject: C = GB,
ST = Isle of Man, L = Douglas, O = Canonical Ltd., CN = Canonical Ltd. Kernel
Module Signing
  usr/lib/linux/5.19.0-24-generic/canonical-revoked-certs.pem:Subject:
C = GB, ST = Isle of Man, O = Canonical Ltd., OU = Secure Boot, CN = Canonical
Ltd. Secure Boot Signing

[ Where problems could occur ]

   * buildinfo is an auxiliary package not installed by default, but
used by developer tooling and packaging.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1996806] Re: Azure: Jammy fio test causes panic

2023-01-27 Thread Ubuntu Kernel Bot
This bug is awaiting verification that the linux-
azure-5.15/5.15.0-1033.40~20.04.1 kernel in -proposed solves the
problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If
the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-focal' to
'verification-done-focal'. If the problem still exists, change the tag
'verification-needed-focal' to 'verification-failed-focal'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

Azure: Jammy fio test causes panic

Status in linux-azure package in Ubuntu:

Status in linux-azure source package in Jammy:

Bug description:
  SRU Justification

  [Impact]

During Storage performance tests, 16 disks are attached and fio is
ran. The fio command does not consistently result in a kernel panic,
but the test runs fio enough times to result in consistent kernel
panic. The panic is most often observed on instances with many cores
  and disks.

  [Test Case]

Using an instance with 96 cores and 16 disks:

  sudo fio --ioengine=libaio --bs=1024K

--filename=/dev/sda:/dev/sdb:/dev/sdc:/dev/sdd:/dev/sde:/dev/sdf:/dev/sdg:/dev/sdh:/dev/sdi:/dev/sdj:/dev/sdk:/dev/sdl:/dev/sdm:/dev/sdn:/dev/sdo:/dev/sdp
  --readwrite=read --runtime=120 --iodepth=32 --numjob=96
  --name=iteration23 --direct=1 --size=8192M --group_reporting
  --overwrite=1

Test results from Microsoft and myself are positive. No panics were
  observed.

  [Regression Potential]

The fix is an upstream patch from 5.17, commit
  0bd2fbee9d0b7f801a9c0264d90b1e0d8053f395 ('scsi: storvsc: Fix unsigned

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1942299] Re: CD/DVD tray ejects on boot or waking from suspend

2023-01-27 Thread Liam Proven
Bug still present. Affects 22.04.1 on multiple Lenovo Thinkpads for me.

I have found this report:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1238485/ubuntu-20-04-cd-drive-keeps-
opening-closing-randomly

Tried the fix; does not help.

That links to this:

https://superuser.com/questions/1343049/dvd-drive-opening-automatically

Tried that much longer fix. Does not help.

This bug is likely to lead to hardware failure through simple mechanical
damage.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

A regression was introduced via upstream -stable patches which causes
the CD / DVD rom drive to open when the system boots, or wakes from
  suspend.

This has had some side effects on some systems where you cannot insert
media at all, since the drive will eject as soon as the tray is
  closed.

  The problematic patch is:

  commit 7dd753ca59d6c8cc09aa1ed24f7657524803c7f3
  Author: ManYi Li
  Date: Fri Jun 11 17:44:02 2021 +0800
Subject: scsi: sr: Return appropriate error code when disk is ejected
  Link:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/7dd753ca59d6c8cc09aa1ed24f7657524803c7f3

  This was backported to:

  Bionic 4.15.0-155-generic
  Focal 5.4.0-82-generic
  Hirsute 5.11.0-32-generic
  Impish 5.13.0-1-generic

  [Fix]

The issue was fixed in the below commit:

  commit 5c04243a56a7977185b00400e59ca7e108004faf
  Author: Li Manyi
  Date: Mon Jul 26 19:49:13 2021 +0800

  Link:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/5c04243a56a7977185b00400e59ca7e108004faf

This patch is already applied to Ubuntu kernels through upstream
-stable, and will land in the following releases, currently in
  -proposed:

  Bionic 4.15.0-159-generic
  Focal 5.4.0-87-generic
  Hirsute 5.11.0-37-generic
  Impish 5.13.0-16-generic

  [Testcase]

If your machine is affected, the CD / DVD rom drive will eject and /
or open during boot or waking from suspend.

This can be seen on some hypervisors, particularly VMware.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2002834] Re: Network bridge issue after updating kernel to 5.4.0-137

2023-01-27 Thread Simon Kirby
Also seeing on Jammy 5.15.0.58.56 with a similar setup (xen, lacp bond,
bridges using openvswitch). Initially tried downgrading vswitch to
2.17.0 from 2.17.3 which didn't make any difference. Both versions of
vswitch are working on the original kernel 5.15.0-25 as well as
5.15.0-33.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2004010] [NEW] Missing sbsigntool build-dependency

2023-01-27 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

 * On UEFI platforms, sbverify is used by linux-signed packaging to
check correctness of signing (to ensure that kernel was not signed with
a revoked key by accident).

 * Some signed packages are missing such build dependency on arm64
platforms.

[ Test Plan ]

 * Check linux-signed package build-log and ensure that sbverify calls
do not result in command not found, but instead correctly check and
reject verification against revoked certs.

[ Where problems could occur ]

 * sbverify is available on all uefi platforms

[ Other Info ]

 * All other packages have correct dependency.

** Affects: linux-signed-gcp (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
