[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2008111] Re: mt9m114 webcam sensor power-up failed

2023-04-08 Thread Luca Leonardo Scorcia
I can confirm that kernel 6.3-rc5 does load correctly the driver for
mt9m114, however that's still not enough to use the webcam as
/dev/video* devices do not get created at boot. Modules seem to load
correctly. Maybe some more userspace work is needed in addition to the
kernel driver? I have no idea on how to troubleshoot this further. Good
news, audio is fixed.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2007772] Re: 7392:c611 Edimax Technology Co., Ltd Edimax Bluetooth Adapter is not currently supported by the installed kernel (5.15)

2023-04-08 Thread Jeremy
Your dmesg shows an out of tree module called rtk_btusb. If you get rid
of it the bluetooth may work with the btusb kernel module

However This device 7392:c611 Edimax Technology Co., Ltd Edimax
Bluetooth Adapter is not currently supported by the installed kernel
(5.15), neither it is supported by the next 5.19 Ubuntu kernel.

Support for this device has been added by this patch to Linux
  mainline.

If you install a recent mainline kernel, the device should work.

2023-04-08 Thread Brian Ford

#sudo apt install linux-oem-22.04c

Worked for me as well. Clean OS install using latest KDE Neon iso and a
USB wifi adapter for the install and kernel update. Everything just
works (seemingly optimally for wifi - 500 Mbps using fast dot com)
including Bluetooth. New HP Pavilion laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 5825U w/
Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device b852

Thanks!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2013236] Re: Failed to install bcmwl wireless driver during the install

2023-04-08 Thread Brian Murray
As I was watching the host system (which is also running Lunar) reboot I
noticed the following in dmesg:

 $ sudo dmesg | grep b43
[sudo] password for bdmurray:
[ 18.921934] b43-phy0: Broadcom 4352 WLAN found (core revision 42)

Revision 1)
[ 18.922277] b43: probe of bcma0:1 failed with error -95

If the device is unsupported is there a way for the kernel module to get
unloaded?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2007001] Re: Blank console display with aarch64 kernel 5.19.0-31

2023-04-08 Thread Paul Rockwell
Whatever patch series is needed does seem to be included in Linus' 5.19
tree as the mainline kernel 5.19.17 (supposedly built from Linus'
sources) does not have this issue.

While testing Bionic daily build with kernel 4.15.0-20-generic we saw
that there are 2 issues with the KVP daemon:

  1. KVP daemon crash after boot. Opened a different bug for this:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1779640

  2. After the KVP daemon is being started the following messages
  appear:

  Apr 25 04:45:25 bionicDaily hv_kvp_daemon[1895]: sh: 1:
/usr/libexec/hypervkvpd/hv_get_dns_info: not found
  Apr 25 04:45:25 bionicDaily hv_kvp_daemon[1895]: sh: 1:
/usr/libexec/hypervkvpd/hv_get_dhcp_info: not found

The above binaries are present on the system, but the their actual
  path is /usr/sbin/hv_get_dns_info and /usr/sbin/hv_get_dhcp_info.
Either the hv_get_dhcp_info and hv_get_dns_info binaries should be
placed in the location where the daemon is looking for
(/usr/libexec/hypervkvpd/), or the daemon should be set to search for
the binaries in the /usr/sbin directory.

I've just checked the kinetic source, and the same path mismatch seems
to exist between debian/rules.d/3-binary-indep.mk and tools/hv/*

now I'm running
antonio@antoniormz:~$ uname -r

and it has already been 6 days without a crash, is this the solution?

antonio@antoniormz:~$ last -x | egrep "boot|crash" | head
reboot system boot 6.2.9-060209-gen Sun Apr 2 22:29 still running
reboot system boot 5.19.0-051900rc6 Sun Apr 2 20:32 - 22:29 (01:56)

When working normally, random freezes happen. Everything freezes,

run a command to restart gnome, enabled ctrl+alt+backspace and tried

  with ctrl+alt+F1-F9 - nothing works.

  If I'm listening to something, the sound goes on for a while;
sometimes it stops by itself, other times it keeps going.

The only way to recover that I've found is to stop the laptop from the
  power button.

For a while I thought it was due to firefox; I installed the deb

It didn't happen when I was playing Hollow Knight in Steam, or when
I've used the terminal and nothing else.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1965882] Re: [nouveau] External monitor plugged into (secondary) Nvidia GPU is all white (plus a little flicker)

2023-04-08 Thread Alex
Hi everyone,
It seems my bug is unsolvable. I will hope for a better Linux (Ubuntu) version
since no other choices exist.
This bug makes me a very rare Linux user (I can't work on just one monitor).
So, Happy Easter Everyone!
Best Wishes,
Alex.

Bug description:
After installing most recent Lunar updates, linux-
image-6.2.0-18-generic won't boot. First attempt to boot hung with
gpu-manager service and other services blocked, something related to
nvidia seemed to be going wrong. Subsequent attempts blocked at
systemd-modules, I believe. Reverting to 6.1, boots fine.

It did boot up enough on one attempt that I was able to SSH in, even
though I couldn't log in on the console because it never got the point
of starting up the session manager or init on the other VTs. I'm
attaching a journalctl log from before the first reboot attempt.
Perhaps there is something illuminating in there; I honestly can't
  tell.

Note that while trying to get it to finish booting the first time when
I was SSH'd in I did kill some processes, so you'll see that in the
  log.

But just to reiterate, I attempted booting several times after that
and it never came up to the point of being on the network.

I thought maybe it might be a DisplayLink issue, but the problem
persisted even when I rebooted without the DisplayLink hub plugged in.

Note also that as I said above I had to revert to 6.1 to get it to
boot, so you'll see that as the last (successful) boot attempt in the
  log file.
