Hi,
Giamma and zipzit
I too had the same problem, it was a fault with the date and time
macros. In the source that sachin thomas provided all I did was open
the file sta_cfg.c in rt3290sta-2.6.0.0/src/sta and in line 4899 delete
__DATE__, __TIME__ . After this it installed perfectly however
Have anyone found a solution? I have the same problem here..

This is NOT fixed by 3.13.0-33.58. It continues to persist even with
3.13.0-65.106 (and 3.13.0-63.103).
I have around 10 VMs running but ONE in particular disconnects from the
network every hour or so.
I had this issue previously but it was initially gone on Ubuntu 14.04

I had the same problem with gnome 15 so I switched to kubuntu which I
don't care for but at least it doesn't destroy every usb stick I insert.
Kubuntu does not have this problem!.
Today I installed ubuntu 14 lts and it just destroyed a perfectly good
usb stick. Let me know if you solve this
I tried using apport-collect 68824 but it blocked me because I was not

Team,
My first problem was caused by improper mounting of the ISO file.
I am now booted as if I am on the ISO image.
My next step is to install the system to the VM drive but there is no

Is there another installer for the root/base system.

I'm not going to participate there, but someone should point them to

Hi Kai-Heng... here is the bisect output.
root@ubuntu:~/mainline/tmp/linux# git bisect bad
8ee82bda230fc972c7ee3bb15ce1260eefb4721c is the first bad commit
commit 8ee82bda230fc972c7ee3bb15ce1260eefb4721c
Author: Adrian Hunter
Date: Wed Nov 29 15:41:06 2017 +0200
mmc: sdhci-pci: Add CQHCI
Thanks Kai-Heng. I have identified the last working mainline is 4.15-rc9
and from 4.16-rc1 it fails. I will try and follow the bisect steps.
After running "git bisect start", what should be the complete "git
bisect good" command based on the kernel versions I determined were
good/bad ??

Hi, thanks for this update. So I know all the 4.15.0 kernels work with
this emmc hardware but the only others I have tried are part of 19.04
(so 4.18) onwards which fail. Does this mean I should start from
4.15-rc9 and then 4.18-rc1 until I find a broken kernel ? Then do the
bisect ?

Hi Kai-Heng.. Please ignore #29/#30/#31. For some reason launchpad took text
from firefox on each reboot! I am working through each bisect testing the
kernels. Each one takes about 1 hour to build. Also quite surprised to see how
many changes were made to sdhci-acpi in this -rc.
Thanks Kai-Heng. I have identified the last working mainline is 4.15-rc9
and from 4.16-rc1 it fails. I will try and follow the bisect steps. I
assume the "git bisect good" command should be "git bisect good
4.15-rc9. Looking at the bisect visualise I can see 2/3 commits made for
emmc devices.

Hi Adrian, thanks for the pointers.
I ran the following (I already set grub to default to 4.15.0-20 unlessI select
an alternate);
git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git
-b linux-5.4.y
cd linux/
wget
Hi Adrian, if booting from the kernel fails, it obviously hangs as there's no
physical disk device to use. Is there a way to write or get the kernel messages
to another device at this point? or is my only option to build on usb, then
build a new patched kernel on the usb and boot from it ?
Thanks Adrian, I'll test this as soon as I can.
Could you confirm the steps.. I assume I need to apply this to 4.16-rc1. I
think it is ..
$ apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ wget
First test with 5.5-rc1 failed with the same issue using these steps
git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
cd linux/
git tag
git checkout v5.5-rc1
wget
Tried 4.18-rc1. Couldn't compile...

Thank you for responding. Today I booted using 5.8.0-55-generic and the
touchpad works again. It must've been something other than the kernel
update. Sorry for the false alarm.

Public bug reported:
I first noticed this about three weeks ago while scrolling through a
large PDF file via rdesktop; finally located error messages in kern.log
today. Symptom is sudden loss of network connection. Both systems
involved must be shut down, allowed to cool for several minutes, then
For what it's worth, the same thing happens in Linux 3.2.0-59-generic
i686; I don't have any older kernels still in place on either system to
see if it goes farther back than that.

file splice in pool causes network timeout which freezes both systems

Workaround over here. I don't know why, but the device just doesn't get
named eth(x), it gets named p1p1 or similar, and doesn't get
automatically entered into /etc/network/interfaces.
I did lshw -c network on a new Trusty x64 Server install on my Gazelle
Pro p9 laptop, and it showed the JMC250
correction: my laptop's a gazprop6, sorry 'bout the typo/braino.
Very definitely a JMC250 chipset wired ethernet controller in it,
though. Didn't autodetect during the installer process (though the
wireless did), didn't come up on first boot (and wouldn't, until I'd
manually run ifconfig p1p1 up
