Christopher M. Penalver thank you for the update information.
This crash happened once, I could not reproduce it since then, although I
updated my BIOS.
There was no notable change in behavior after the update.

So, HW is different, kernel is different just 64-bit is common.

My touchpad started working after an update on 10.24.2013.
