Hi,
since the update to 14.04.01 I encounter this error on my Thinkpad with
a SSD. The systems freezes, and after aprox. 30 sec - 1 min the
following messages can be found by using dmesg:
ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x7fff SErr 0x5 action 0x6 frozen

Hi Chris,
meanwhile my current kernel is 3.16.1-46.1.g90bc0f1
I'm wondering (after a reinstall) that the semaphore bug hasn't occured yet,
which was the case before (after a fresh install).
This leads me to 4 definable possible reasons:
1. the named kernel revision somehow contains a fix for
2. of course I meant cgroup_disable=memory

Just updated to 3.18 and the touchpad works. Thanks!
The brightness control buttons don't work anymore. I got them working on
3.16 (using the fix above), but they're not working anymore as of 3.18.
The 'disable touchpad' button doesn't work either.

What's the status of the touch screen drivers? My touch pad is working
perfectly, but my screen doesn't handle clicks or multi touch. Will this
be fixed as well, or is this another issue?

@blask: Had the same problem. Use the following to decrease speed:
xinput set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Constant
Deceleration" 2
The higher the value (I find 2 good), the slower the speed.
Add the line to $USER_HOME/.xsessionrc to keep the setting across
restarts.

@chmelab: Try xinput set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Evdev
Wheel Emulation Inertia" 40
@blask: Don't have that problem, settled on value 4.
Here's my .xsessionrc, works fine for me, mid-button scrolling is mid-
paced, pointer is quick but not overtly so...
