My Ubuntu 16.04.1 guest, cressg2, are running the IO and other stress test, and it is hitting "xfs_log_force: error -5 returned" problem after it runs the tests for 15 hours. It is using our lab storage (SVC SAN storage configuation with access to DS8000 Volume) and switch, compare to tinyg3, so it is using different storage and fabric switch. root@cressg2:~# uname -a Linux cressg2 4.4.0-36-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 11 18:00:57 UTC 2016 ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux [Wed Sep 7 10:26:48 2016] XFS (vdb8): xfs_log_force: error -5 returned. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1221524] Re: bluetoothd crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch
Ughh, I totally forgot about this one... I didn't get a chance to test this on a newer Ubuntu version. Unfortunately I don't have a Ubuntu box in vicinity to try this either. Please close this and I'm hoping that bluetoothd is working just fine in the newer version. Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1221524 Title: bluetoothd crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Using ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the bluetoothd just crash whenever my thinkpad t420 starts. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1667599] Re: CAPI:Ubuntu: Kernel panic while rebooting
I think the issue is caused by pcieport_drv by which the MSI is enabled on 0021:02:01.0. Behind the PLX downstream port, there is surprise hotpluggable slot. When pnv-php.ko is loaded, it tries to enable MSI and the backtrace is thrown this time. Two things can be done to avoid this awkward situation: (1) Prohibit pcieport_drv. It does nothing on PowerNV platform. pnv-php.ko doesn't depend on any functionalities exported by it. (2) I will add some code in pnv-php.ko to skip enabling MSIx/MSI if the PLX downstream port has associated driver. With it, we won't see the backtrace hopefully. However, the surprise hotplug functionality is lost. root@ltc84-pkvm1:~# lspci -vvvs 0021:02:01.0 | grep "Kernel driver in use" Kernel driver in use: pcieport root@ltc84-pkvm1:~# echo 0021:02:01.0 > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/pcieport/unbind root@ltc84-pkvm1:~# lspci -vvvs 0021:02:01.0 | grep "Kernel driver in use" root@ltc84-pkvm1:~# insmod /lib/modules/4.9.0-15-generic/kernel/drivers/pci/hotplug/pnv-php.ko root@ltc84-pkvm1:~# dmesg | tail -30 [8.677661] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.888:2): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/sbin/libvirtd" pid=4220 comm="apparmor_parser" [8.677671] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.888:3): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/sbin/libvirtd//qemu_bridge_helper" pid=4220 comm="apparmor_parser" [8.679095] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.888:4): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="virt-aa-helper" pid=4219 comm="apparmor_parser" [8.751964] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.960:5): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/sbin/dhclient" pid=4218 comm="apparmor_parser" [8.751974] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.960:6): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-client.action" pid=4218 comm="apparmor_parser" [8.751979] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.960:7): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-helper" pid=4218 comm="apparmor_parser" [8.751984] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.960:8): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/lib/connman/scripts/dhclient-script" pid=4218 comm="apparmor_parser" [8.781147] audit: type=1400 audit(1487122689.992:9): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/sbin/tcpdump" pid=4222 comm="apparmor_parser" [ 12.169618] ip6_tables: (C) 2000-2006 Netfilter Core Team [ 12.196455] Ebtables v2.0 registered [ 12.229787] systemd[1]: apt-daily.timer: Adding 8h 33min 26.836791s random time. Apart from original problem that triggers the error, the printk is a problem on its own. System might run out of space for logs, and would have high CPU load caused by journald. This bug is to address an absence of rate limiter on printk at https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/f64e8084c94bb0449177364856d8117e2f14c4c0/arch/powerpc/kvm/book3s_64_mmu.c#L268 Maybe wrapping the printk in printk_ratelimit() is all that is required? if(printk_ratelimit()){ printk("KVM can't copy"); } Contact Information = Mikhail Medvedev / mmedv...@us.ibm.com, Rafael Folco / rfo...@br.ibm.com ---uname output--- 4.8.0-34-generic #36~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 21 18:53:20 UTC 2016 ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux Machine Type = KVM guest on P8 8247 21L ---Debugger--- A debugger is not configured ---Steps to Reproduce--- 1. For those who are waiting for patch, here is the step to temporarily load the module. --- # Download kernel sources mkdir ~/debian/src -p cd ~/debian/src apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r) cd linux-lts-xenial-4.4.0/ << it can be any kernel. wget https://launchpadlibrarian.net/230434847/uvc.patch patch -p1 < uvc.patch cd drivers/media/usb/uvc/ make -C /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build M=$(pwd) modules The above step will create a file named uvcvideo.ko in "drivers/media/usb/uvc/" directory. Simply copy and load the module to fix the cam issue. check your running kernel. $ uname -r 4.4.0-42-generic copy module sudo cp uvcvideo.ko /lib/modules/4.4.0-42-generic/kernel/drivers/media/usb/uvc/ -v unload old module and load new one: sudo rmmod uvcvideo; sudo modprobe uvcvideo Done. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]
After some days of using Utopic on my L440, I'm able to use wifi even for longer duration (~3 hours). The connection was okay-ish mostly (ping showed ~25% packet loss). Later, it failed to do a 'git push', that's when I switched to wired connection. :) But I reckon that it has come a long way.. from not detecting the wifi card at all to somewhat 'surf-able' connection. Hoping that it'll be more stable soon. Guys, Just sharing my experience with this issue. I've got Lenovo Thinkpad L440 recently which has this realtek network device. Installed 12.04 LTS and all I could see was no network device available. So no wired wireless connection could be made. Then I read various solutions over web and then found this bug filed. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 896922] Re: Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds
All, I'm facing the same problem since yesterday. The trackpoint (I don't use touchpad) just freezes on my Thinkpad T420 running 12.04 and 3.2.0-57-generic-pae kernel. After reading the entire thread, I also tried Gero's suggestion but it didn't work for me. For the first time (when trackpoint froze yesterday) i got the similar errors in dmesg and syslog like: Dec 17 13:51:55 vipin-thinkpad-t420 kernel: [13612.139398] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1 But today, the trackpoint froze for 3-4 times and such errors are not seen in logs. I also noticed that this happens when I'm typing and want to use trackpoint immediately after that. Strangely, I'm using this laptop (with same OS) since last 1+ year, this problem started to happen since yesterday only. And now it is happening everytime in only 5-10 mins after reboot.
