Hello all,
I still have complete freeze of my laptop on a regular basis. Most of the time
i have to hard reboot (seems to hapen more often when the power supply is not
connected, that is when i run on battery).
I join the Xorg log file in case it can help.

from all comments following that a fix has never been found.
I understand your comments regarding nouveau vs. proprietary nvidia
drivers.
Will test with daily and advise you on the results,

Installed a new host to test with and replicated the bug on it with
3.16.0-22-generic by installing a new VM - the Oops occurred during the
grub2 install.
Installed 3.18.0-031800rc1-generic but the system will not even allow a
VM to start, kworker and modprobe timeouts in kern.log.

Ok, I've got a minimal reproducer ready. It causes the bug when I run
it on Ubuntu 14.04 with 3.13.0-24-generic and LXC version
1.0.7-0ubuntu0.1 0. It's python, and the script has some documentation
describing its usage as well as the prerequisites. You should run it as
root via sudo.
Prereqs
Here's the setup I use: run the reproducer in a 14.04 server VM (Linux
ubuntu 3.13.0-24-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 2 23:30:00 UTC 2014
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux), VM is bridged to host machine's en0. I
am using VMware Fusion on OSX 10.10 host.
Containers inside the VM use NAT via lxcbr0
I am able to reliably recreate this on both Ubuntu 14.04 with kernel
3.13.0-37-generic and Ubuntu 14.10 with kernel 3.16.0-23-generic. I
have test code that can hit the bug, but it's not cleaned up enough to
share. The steps to repro are:
Start a container (COW clone using overlayfs from a
PACKET INJECTION:
I have read something online about raw tx and it looks like that hardware
crypto-engine on the card does encrypt the packets that you are trying to
inject so it doesn't work. I have tried to create unsecured wireless network
and connect to it - this disabled the crypto engine
I have had many problems while compiling the kernel (while following steps #150
and #115)
The problem was in that .zip file.. never again download any sources from git
as a zip, use a tar.gz.
All the errors (missing files, bad symlinks, no rule to make
target...) were because of that .zip
Public bug reported:

Even if the files are huge, the size of the folder doesn't change. If I
create 100,000 5 byte files or 100,000 1mb files, the folder size is
about 2mb after I delete all the files.
However, it should be noted that when using much bigger files ( 200mb+
), the folder size can be slightly bigger,

I found a hack to get this WiFi working on my machine, though is't not
solved in general.
Starting with Ubuntu 15.10
install

linux-firmware_1.155_all.deb
replace
/lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/board.bin with the file
Not yet solved for Xenial
