I had the exact same issues as yourself, but after disabling WiFi power
saving, and upgrading to kernel 3.10 (previously 3.9) I've not had any
further major issues with WiFi or connectivity.

kernel. It appears to alleviate the problem so far. I am able to use the
microphone on my webcam for more than a few seconds. This is what
appears in dmesg and the kernel log, but the mic still works:

3.8.0-27-generic #40 for the installer... then after I rebooted
3.8.0-28-generic #41 was installed.

keyboard LEDs illuminated, the power still on, but everything else off.
Only option to recover is to hard reset the system (hold down the power

Guess what? An automatic Kernel update this morning (presumably to fix
some other problem) wiped out all that hard work. At least I only had to
re-install what I did yesterday and didn't have to rebuild it all!

I've done a preliminary backport of patches to kernel 3.8, and packaged
it up in the attached DKMS package. Could you test it?
I e, install 12.04 with the lts-raring kernel, and then install this
DKMS package, then reboot. Is the headset microphone (and the mic-only
part) working now?

I reported this bug on oneric. It has been solved for me since precise.
I am currently running saucy with the same hardware and it works just
fine.
