Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1245832] Re: Bluetooth not working 13.10 when speaker plugged in

2013-11-08 Thread muss60
Hi Christopher,

*Maverick*

   - Sound is heard when speaker and PC are connected via chord, okay as
   would expect
   - no sound through speaker via Bluetooth when chord is in speaker only
and removed from PC ,(as expected) but shows up as connected to Bluetooth.
   - remove chord from speaker connects to Bluetooth and sound is heard
   instantly
   - As a note Bluetooth seems to stay connected but not active when chord
   is connected.

*Saucy*

   - sound is heard when chord is plugged into PC and speaker, okay as
   would expect,
   - no sound through speaker via Bluetooth when chord is in speaker and
removed from PC, (as expected) but shows connection error unable to connect
   to device with Bluetooth.
   - remove chord from PC and speaker, Bluetooth shows connection error,
   unable to connect to device.
   - you can set up the device and pair with it, but Saucy seems unable to
connect, as if the chord is connected. It was also noted that there is no
entry in System settings/Sound -Output tab as found in Maverick and
   Precise.

I hope the above helps

Regards

muss60

Hi Christopher,

Sorry for the delay in responding to you, kids, school, work ect.
I have managed to find Maverick at home, I shall test this when I get a
chance.
I will also try to contact the manufacture of the speaker to establish its
default operation modes. Ie; does bluetooth become disabled when connected
via chord ect.

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1245832] Re: Bluetooth not working 13.10

2013-11-07 Thread muss60
Hi Christopher,

Managed to test Maverick, uname_-a returns: 2.6.35-22-generic, (earliest
I go back with Ubuntu and Linux.)

Bluetooth pairs and connects okay, sound output was achieved following
selection of the paired device in System Settings/ Sound under Output and
Hardware tabs.

Plugging in the chord to the speaker only, cuts sound output via bluetooth.
Removal of the chord from the speaker instantly returns playback via
bluetooth, suggesting bluetooth connectivity is maintained.

Will try and obtain info from speaker manufacturer tomorrow.

2013-11-02 Thread muss60
Hi Christopher,

I upgraded from 13.04 but unsure if I had this problem as I didn't have it
installed for long, I believe the last known working bluetooth was with
distro release 12.10 which was upgraded from 12.04LTS.
As a point of note, updates are installed as they arrive.

Kind regards

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1245832] Re: Bluetooth not working 13.10

2013-11-02 Thread muss60
Hi Christopher,
Okay I understand, I shall do as requested asap.

For Your info

Ive tested 12.04 (uname -a returned with kernel 3.2.0-5.6-generic-pae) on
another machine the kids use and all seems okay with bluetooth.

I managed to replicate the fault though. The speaker I have been using as a
test piece has the ability to connect via the headphone port using a hard
wired cable connector. If this connector is still in the speaker only and
try to connect through bluetooth, I can get the fault I am seeing.
Removal of the hard wire adaptor cable from the speaker, allowed connection
of the device to the PC via bluetooth.
With this in mind I conducted the reconnection of the same speaker via
bluetooth to my Dell Latitude running Saucy and upstream kernel, ensuring
no adaptor leads are connected, I still could not connect via bluetooth.

Regards
muss60

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1245832] Re: Bluetooth not working 13.10

2013-11-02 Thread muss60
Hi Christopher,

The chord has to be removed from both the Latitude D610 and Gear4 speaker
for bluetooth to work, this was when tested with 12.04. If left connected
at the speaker no connection was made just as per the fault with Saucy.

Saucy 13.10 is has been tested with no chords connected to laptop or
speaker, as it was felt that if the chord was left in a failure could be
influenced.

I've checked up to Raring 13.04, Kernel 3.8.0-19 generic this works okay.
(All releases back to Precise are okay too)

Saucy, Kernel 3.11.0-13 generic fails to work.

I have noticed under System Settings/ Sound - Output tab there is no entry
for the Gear4 speaker in the Play sound through field when viewed using
Saucy, while there is an entry with the other releases back to Precise. see
attached png

Hi Christopher,

Just tested Kernel 3.8.0-33-generic, this couldn't find bluetooth adaptors
at all and did not run at all well, mouse not working either, very slow in
operation, so I have assumed this is not a finished release.
Off to bed now have kids soccer to do in the morning.

  Bluetooth not working 13.10

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

  workings of the system,

Hardware:- Dell Latttitude D610, Mem- 2Gb, Processor- Intel Pentium

connect to device.

Please be patient as I am new to bug reporting and examining the
  workings of the system,

Hardware:- Dell Latttitude D610, Mem- 2Gb, Processor- Intel Pentium
  (R)M 1.86 Ghz, Graphics- Galium 04 on ATI RV370, 32 Bit

Bug, Unable to effect bluetooth connection. Able to prior to upgrade
  to 13.10.

As standard Bluetooth indicator not working on top bar, open as standard
bluetooth via settings or dash okay, Can pair with external speaker for
example but cannot connect, slider in Bluetooth GUI will not slide to give
connect staus.
Tried Blueman Device Manager 1.23, can also find and pair but unable to
connect to device.

As installed config shown below just incase there is an error
./ect/bluetooth/audio.conf
  # Configuration file for the audio service

  # This section contains options which are not specific to any
  # particular interface
  [General]

  # Switch to master role for incoming connections (defaults to true)
  #Master=true

  # If we want to disable support for specific services
  # Defaults to supporting all implemented services
  #Disable=Gateway,Source,Socket

  # SCO routing. Either PCM or HCI (in which case audio is routed to/from ALSA)
  # Defaults to HCI
  #SCORouting=PCM

  # Automatically connect both A2DP and HFP/HSP profiles for incoming
  # connections. Some headsets that support both profiles will only connect the
  # other one automatically so the default setting of true is usually a good
  # idea.
  #AutoConnect=true

  # Headset interface specific options (i.e. options which affect how the audio
  # service interacts with remote headset devices)
  [Headset]

  # Set to true to support HFP, false means only HSP is supported
  # Defaults to true
  HFP=true

  # Maximum number of connected HSP/HFP devices per adapter. Defaults to 1
  MaxConnected=1

  # Set to true to enable use of fast connectable mode (faster page scanning)
  # for HFP when incoming call starts. Default settings are restored after
  # call is answered or rejected. Page scan interval is much shorter and page
  # scan type changed to interlaced. Such allows faster connection initiated
  # by a headset.
  FastConnectable=false

  # Just an example of potential config options for the other interfaces
  #[A2DP]
  #SBCSources=1
  #MPEG12Sources=0
