[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1574125] Re: suspend not working after uprade

2016-04-24 Thread AM
Same here, desktop computer, Ubuntu Gnome 16.04. It doesn't do that all
the time, but i would say 50/50 chance.

Title:
  suspend not working after uprade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi,

Upgraded from Ubuntu 15.10 where suspend workes flawlessly. After
upgrade, putting machine in suspend turns the monitor black and
everything seem to be off, though the fan still spins, the power light
is on and the battery is trained. Nothing seem to wake it up (Meaning
different key combinations - trying to get a shell by Ctrl+Alt+F1, for
example; pressing power, any other key).

Unsure how to try to get it working since I have to kill the power by
pressing down the power button, then restarting it (it then does a
  drive scan for errors).

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1023913] Re: Problems with hibernate

2014-12-06 Thread am...@gmx.ch
Greetings,
The T410s is now fairly old and used for testing. For quite a while it
is no longer running Ubuntu 12.04 and, hence, I unfortunately cannot
supply the desired information. Sorry.
Best regards,
François P. Rotzinger

Title:
  Problems with hibernate

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64, Hardware: Lenovo T410s (using Intel
  graphics), i5-540 M.

When running pm-hibernate, and when according to free the RAM
occupation is below the swap size, hibernation does not take place.
When running subsequently cpufreq-info, only one thread shows up
(there should be 4). To put the CPU into its normal state requires a
  reboot.

A partial fix: executing (as root):
  sync; echo 3 /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
  sync; echo 0 /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
  cat /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
frees memory. A subsequent hibernation (with pm-hibernate) then works.

  Thank you,
  François P. Rotzinger
