I have tried kernel 3.14.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 and then hci0 was finally up and I could connect it to my old wiimote, but since my main goal was to connect to the new Wii U pro controller and it didn't pair, I decided to buy a new bluetooth adapter. This time, I reverted the kernel to the default 3.13. It worked fine and paired with the controller as well. To my surprise, both adapters get listed as the same model with lsusb:
$ lsusb | grep Bluetooth Bus 002 Device 005: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode) Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode) When listed with hciconfig, hci0 is up, hci1 is down and any attempt to initialize it gets an "Operation not supported (95)" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314621 Title: 0a12:0001 [Lenovo G580] Bluetooth Dongle (Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd) doesnt work on ubuntu 14.04 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Bluetooth Dongle (Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd) doesnt work on ubuntu 14.04 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic 3.13.0-24.46 [modified: boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-24-generic] ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: sperruolo 1976 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Apr 30 09:42:34 2014 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=7baca90b-9427-4acc-b9b4-cb02bf839380 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-04-25 (4 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140417) MachineType: LENOVO 20157 ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-24-generic root=UUID=d3f21774-ccf3-4a73-bce6-f1b73a6d73de ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-24-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-24-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.127 SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 08/16/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 62CN89WW dmi.board.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.board.name: Lenovo G580 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: 31900003WIN8 STD MLT dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Lenovo G580 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr62CN89WW:bd08/16/2012:svnLENOVO:pn20157:pvrLenovoG580:rvnLENOVO:rnLenovoG580:rvr31900003WIN8STDMLT:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLenovoG580: dmi.product.name: 20157 dmi.product.version: Lenovo G580 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1314621/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
