[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1556228] Re: HP Notebook Probook 440 G3 HDA Intel PCH horrible sounds while booting

2016-03-14 Thread ArnauC
Yes, I only changed that option, the other options are by default . And
yes, in my case, the noise dissapeared completely.

Bug description:
At first there was no native recognition of my sound driver (see this [
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1525554 ] a lot of
others a experiencing this problem)
so there was a workaround to fix that, the notebook has sound output now, but
ever since i got these horrible scratching noises while booting, which i dont
have booting windows, which is kinda surprising while one could take it for a
bios or hardware problem.

basic workaround for fixing missing sound driver was adding two lines to the
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
  options snd-hda-intel single_cmd=1
  options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1

with these lines a was able to get sound, but i then have these crazy
  noises while booting.

the following are some lines from the terminal which might help:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1556228] Re: HP Notebook Probook 440 G3 HDA Intel PCH horrible sounds while booting

2016-03-14 Thread ArnauC
Hi sven,
I had got the same problem in a HP Probook 430
I solved that noise enabling Intel Smart Sound in BIOS.
Before Ubuntu boots, press the 'Esc' key, then go to 'BIOS setup' -> 'Advanced'
-> 'Built-In Options' -> ' Intel Smart Sound'.
Exit and save changes.

Try that,please

ArnauC

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1525554] Re: [HP ProBook 470 G3, Intel Skylake HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all

2016-02-22 Thread ArnauC
Hi Adrian,

I only modified the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file adding this
lines at the end:

options snd-hda-intel power_save=0
options snd-hda-intel power_save_controller=N
options snd-hda-intel model=basic
options snd-hda-intel single_cmd=1
options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1

And then I changed the BIOS configuration, as I said.

This only two steps. I hope this can help you!

2016-01-27 Thread ArnauC
Hi!
I think I've resolved the strong noise at rebooting.

I entered into BIOS setup -> Advanced and I enabled an option called
"Intel Smart Sound". Save changes and Exit.

Now, when I reboot, there is no noise.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1525554] Re: [HP ProBook 470 G3, Intel Skylake HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all

2016-01-21 Thread ArnauC
Hi!

I have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with kernel 3.19.0-25 installed in a HP Probook 430 G3.
When I finished the installation, the sound doesn't works.
I followed the Andy C instructions and it works. I didn't use the alsa_setup.sh
script.
-I only put this lines in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
options snd-hda-intel single_cmd=1
options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1
options snd-hda-intel model=basic

But when I reboot the laptop (not halt or poweroff), before Ubuntu starts, a
very strong noise appears. At every reboot this noise appears.
-I corrected this problem, I just put the next line in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
 options snd-hda-intel power_save=0

Now, I've updated the kernel to 3.19.0-47 and the strong noise appears again.
I've tried to solve adding another option to the file:
options snd-hda-intel power_save_controller=N
But doesn't works

I've read the kernel documentation pages about ALSA but I haven't find the
solution
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA-Configuration.txt
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio.txt

Has someone an idea to resolve this issue?
Thanks to all!
