[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1906655] Re: Ethernet interface broken (Flags mismatch irq) after upgrading to kernel 5.8.0-31
I did an apt-get update && apt-get upgrade this morning and it bricked my server --network was gone. I ended up having to call out of work and spend the day on linux forums trying to figure out how a simple update, something we've all done 1000s of times bricked my machine. Here are the details - https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux- server-73/updated-system-all-networking-lost-following- reboot-4175690186/#post6218320 My solution was to edit the grub config to boot the last working kernel, which is Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-65-generic. Every kernel after this breaks all networking. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1906655 Title: Ethernet interface broken (Flags mismatch irq) after upgrading to kernel 5.8.0-31 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Realtek ethernet network interface is broken when booting with kernel 5.8.0-31. How to reproduce: (1) Pair a bluetooth headset with a machine equipped with a BCM20702A0. (2) Activate the device. Usually there is a button on the headset you should press to notify the bluetooth stack that you're ready to use the device. This creates SCO link and the plumbs the audio components. (3) Open the sound settings tool and select the bluetooth device under the "Input" and "Output" tabs. Under each tab you should see a table with an entry that has a headset icon on the left with the bluetooth device name to the right. This is the item to select. Now, everything should be configured so that you can use your bluetooth device to hear and record audio. Test this by: Testing Input: (1) In the sound settings tool, select the "Input" tab. (2) Make sure the "Input Volume" is not muted and the scale widget is not set to zero. (3) Make sounds into the headset mic -- you should see the "Input Level" bar raise. Testing Output: In the same program: (1) Select the "Hardware" tab. (2) In the box labeled "Choose a device to configure", select your bluetooth device. (3) A combobox should appear at the bottom of the window labeled "Settings for the selected device". Choose "Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP)". (4) Now click on the "Test Speakers" button to the right. (5) Run speaker test. You should hear a sound. Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1776416] Re: Sound stopped working after update 11/06/18 7pm GMT
Well, if the drivers were being updated automatically with a system update they weren't for me. The engineer didn't explain exactly what he did, sorry. The repair wasn't expensive, so maybe you should get an engineer to look at? Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1776416] Re: Sound stopped working after update 11/06/18 7pm GMT
A computer is 50% useless without sound. You don't seem to be in hurry to roll this back to end my misery. This is the second time this has happened, the first had to be fixed by an engineer. Seriously thinking of using Windows, or seeing an engineer again because of your update. The thing I miss about Windows is the ability to 'Go Back' to a previous session. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1611532] Re: bluetooth USB dongle CSR8510 causes system freeze
I confirm the issue with the Broadcom 20702A0 bluetooth 4 dongle, exactly as described. Also tested with earlier kernels on Debian and Ubuntu systems. No possibility of reliable usage over bluetooth. I would greatly appreciate this bug being given attention. We have a University lab full of Linux machines waiting to start a sensors experiment involving reading data over bluetooth from a BBC micro:bit. While this bug persists, we can't run that experiment on Linux, which is about a bad a message as you can send to an EE student. Politics and trolls aside, "You have to use MS Windows to deal with embedded systems" is the opposite of the truth; I'm sure that's not controversial. If I can run any further tests, please advise. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611532 Title: bluetooth USB dongle CSR8510 causes system freeze Status in Linux: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: - Do a rfcomm bind. - Try a cat /dev/rfcomm0 In about 50% of cases the system completely freezes. I've tried it on two computers and the behaviour is the same (both 64 bit versions) Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release: 16.04 Linux bp1-ThinkPad-X220 4.4.0-34-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 27 16:06:39 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: linux-image-4.4.0-31-generic 4.4.0-31.50 [modified: boot/vmlinuz-4.4.0-31-generic] ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-34.53-generic 4.4.15 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-34-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: bp13466 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Tue Aug 9 22:57:18 2016 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=8159b870-9b8b-418d-ba7f-681dacd3fb94 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-07-24 (16 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) MachineType: LENOVO 4291SX7 ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.4.0-34-generic root=UUID=a4df6be3-87d1-4a4f-8576-2c3fc031806e ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-4.4.0-34-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-4.4.0-34-generic N/A linux-firmware1.157.2 SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 07/18/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 8DET69WW (1.39 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 4291SX7 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr8DET69WW(1.39):bd07/18/2013:svnLENOVO:pn4291SX7:pvrThinkPadX220:rvnLENOVO:rn4291SX7:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 4291SX7 dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X220 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1611532/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 606238] Re: synaptic touchpad not recognized on dell latitude e6510 and others
I installed the package on my Fujitsu Lifebook and it is almost unusable - the touchpad fails to detect small touches (i.e. detects only a flat finger, not the fingertip); the x/y values are way off (y movement much faster than x, which is very sluggish). Multitouch features work though and ubuntu detects the touchpad as such. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/606238 Title: synaptic touchpad not recognized on dell latitude e6510 and others Status in The Linux Kernel: Fix Released Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in “linux” source package in Precise: Fix Released Status in “linux” source package in Quantal: Fix Committed Status in “linux” package in Arch Linux: Fix Released Status in openSUSE: New Bug description: It wrongly recognized as PS/2 Generic Mouse.
