[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2067945] Re: Restart after resume from suspend

2024-09-12 Thread Darin Miller
Using kernels from the Ubuntu kernel website
(https://kernel.ubuntu.com/mainline/?C=N;O=D) as crude bisect reference,
resume crash appears appears in 6.8.0-060800rc1-generic (where 6.7.10 is
the last working kernel). I will need assistance bisecting the 6.8.0
rc1 commit, but I am willing to try with some guidance.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2067945] Re: Restart after resume from suspend

2024-09-06 Thread Darin Miller
Resume issue still present in the 6.11.0-061100rc6 kernel.

- Also, suspending live booted Kubuntu and Ubuntu 24.10 Daily builds (06-Sept)
produces crash.
- System crashes on resume when suspending both from Wayland and X11.
- This attempt also failed: "sudo systemctl edit systemd-suspend.service" then
adding

  [Service]
  Environment="SYSTEMD_SLEEP_FREEZE_USER_SESSIONS=false"

The 6.6 kernel still is the only stable kernel on for my system.

BIOS update was not the fix. About half of "wake from sleep" results in
crash. Reverted back to 6.6 kernel.

may have fixed this issue (2 successful resumes so far...). I will
monitor for next few days and report back.

This issue persists in the 6.11 rc3 kernel and in the 6.10.5 kernel and
thus I still must to use the 6.6.42 kernel to avoid crashes.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1865499] Re: pulseaudio doesn't detect (new) USB headset

2020-10-19 Thread Darin Miller
This bug is back again in Kubuntu 20.10. Should I start a new bug? I
can attach pactl output for both the good and bad states if it would
help. When is issue occurs, aplay -l shows the problem device and
killing PA fixes the problem.

microphone is always a "multichannel" device. When both the speaker
and the "multichannel" microphone are recognized, only one can be used
  - either speaker or microphone. When selecting the speaker, the
microphone is switched back to any other device available, them same
goes for the microphone and the speaker - any other speaker is
  selected.

A workaround is to plug in the USB headset and run "pkill -U $USER
pulseaudio". Everything works fine until the next hot-plug (eg. a
  second headset).

  Running "lsb_release -a" gives
  No LSB modules are available.
  Distributor ID: Ubuntu
  Description: Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS
  Release: 18.04
  Codename: bionic

Attached is the output from "ubuntu-bug pulseaudio". Currently 10 % of
our users are affected by this bug, all running the same Ubuntu and
package versions. I activated the proposed repository to check if any
updates available fix the problem, but to no avail. I also switched
kernels (from 4.15 to 5.5 mainline from
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds).

  I read bug #1325282
  (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1325282)
and it sounds somewhat very familiar, but instead of "env={}" in
  /usr/share/ubuntu-drivers-common/detect/sl-modem.py there's "env=env".
Removing "env=env" doesn't resolve the problem.

  Do you require additional information?

2019-05-19 Thread Darin Miller
I apologize for not responding sooner. This issues was fixed a few days
after reporting the issue. The current 5.0.0-15 is working fine and I
agree this must have been a temporary kernel regression. I will close
the bug.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1822426] Re: 19.04 Built in Intel HDA sound is disabled upon resume

2019-04-07 Thread Darin Miller
uname -a: Linux Imagined 4.20.17-042017-generic
NVIDIA Driver Version: 418.56

Resumed 3 times from sleep with the 4.20 kernel, so far sound is working
fine.

Sometimes the issues does not appear until the next day (warm vs cold
hw?), so I will report back tomorrow.

If sound works for next few days, I will try editing /proc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf and reboot into the 5.0 kernel.
