Title:
[Lenovo ThinkPad T460s] Mouse pointer jumps to the bottom on the
  screen on some pad touchs

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When using normally the touchpad, sometimes it jumps to (mostly) the
bottom of the screen. It jumps to any position in the bottom, not the
  corners.

Also, sometimes it jumps to the top. This is not random jumping, or
erratic movement. It jumps to the bottom on some touchs.

I found that it's quite reproducible if you play a little with two
fingers on the pad, not moving the pointer but just touching the pad
with one finger, then with the other, then with the first, etc, in
  rapid succession.

I'm happy to help with any debugging.

It happened from "always", I bought the machine brand new at the end of
July, and after some days of use I just reported the bug.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1614265] Re: Mouse pointer shows to the bottom on the screen on some pad touchs

2016-12-30 Thread Facundo Batista
Adding a example video where I show the bug. See the mouse pointer in
the eye's pupil. See what I do then with my fingers in the touchpad, and
how the mouse pointer jumps to a screen's corner.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1614265] Re: Mouse pointer shows to the bottom on the screen on some pad touchs

2016-12-30 Thread Facundo Batista
I tried with 4.10 rc1, still happening.

Title:
Mouse pointer shows to the bottom on the screen on some pad touchs

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1614265] Re: Mouse pointer shows to the bottom on the screen on some pad touchs

2016-08-17 Thread Facundo Batista
I started xpinut to show the events, the attached is a series of events
when this jump happens (around the last 5 or 10 events, it's very
difficult to pinpoint the exact place).

The command I used is:

xinput --test "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1614265] [NEW] Mouse pointer shows to the bottom on the screen on some pad touchs

2016-08-17 Thread Facundo Batista
Public bug reported:

When using normally the touchpad, sometimes it jumps to (mostly) the
bottom of the screen. It jumps to any position in the bottom, not the
corners.

Also, sometimes it jumps to the top. This is not random jumping, or
erratic movement. It jumps to the bottom on some touchs.

I found that it's quite reproducible if you play a little with two
fingers on the pad, not moving the pointer but just touching the pad
with one finger, then with the other, then with the first, etc, in rapid
succession.

I'm happy to help with any debugging.

Title:
Mouse pointer shows to the bottom on the screen on some pad touchs

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When using normally the touchpad, sometimes it jumps to (mostly) the
bottom of the screen. It jumps to any position in the bottom, not the
  corners.

Also, sometimes it jumps to the top. This is not random jumping, or
erratic movement. It jumps to the bottom on some touchs.

I found that it's quite reproducible if you play a little with two
fingers on the pad, not moving the pointer but just touching the pad
with one finger, then with the other, then with the first, etc, in
  rapid succession.

I'm happy to help with any debugging.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1581651] Re: Xenial desktop unusable under simple I/O through USB

2016-05-17 Thread Facundo Batista
So, at some point I updated the system, and this behaviour stopped
happening; tried a lot to reproduce it, and all that I got is the normal
slowdown when you use disk a lot and try to use an app that suddenly
needs to access disks.

Joseph, Chad, sorry I can not throw more light here, :(

Daniel, it surely was happening with ext3 (I have a big disk through usb
in ext3, where I also saw the behaviour reported here originally).

So, unless you want to continue searching for something around here
(glad to help if I can!), you can close this issue.

Thanks all for the help!

Xenial desktop unusable under simple I/O through USB

Bug description:

  Hello!

After installing Xenial [0] I experience the following: when I do I/O through
USB (to/from simple pendrives, or an
external HDD I have), the desktop becomes unusable, because it goes very very
unresponsive.

  With unresponsive I mean:

  - all windows go greyed out (like when it's failing to answer in time,
as if the process inside that window locked up)

  - firefox and thunderbird start to pop up the typical "the script is taking
too much to finis, want to kill
it/continue/etc" (in whatever tab I'll be, so it's not the JS scripts (for
once!)

  - the mouse pointer goes jumpy, not really following my hand movement

  - I see in thee indicator-multiload widget that CPU time is "wasted"
in "waiting i/o"; which I confirmed looking at "top".

So, in short: even while understanding that CPU would wait a little for i/o
and that the system will be under a little
load by writing a pen-drive, I find current situation beyond a normal
experience.

How can I start to debug this? What I can try? Can I provide you more
  info?

  Thanks!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1581651] Re: Xenial desktop unusable under simple I/O through USB

2016-05-17 Thread Facundo Batista
BTW, the update that "fixed" the problem did NOT include new kernels So,
the problem wasn't inherently there.

After that, I updated the machine again (now it brought a new kernel
version), but everything continued ok.
