[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1933771] Re: Bluetooth headset random disconnects AX200

2022-01-18 Thread Hadrien Mary
I still see the issue (last time was after 90 minutes during a conf
call) with Ubuntu 21.10 with linux-firmware 1.202.

Title:
  Bluetooth headset random disconnects AX200

Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in linux-firmware source package in Hirsute:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  [Impact]

Using several different bluetooth headsets I find that the Bluetooth
functionality of the built-in AX200 module of my motherboard keeps
randomly disconnecting. I found that this has been fixed in recent
Linux firmware updates, but I am not sure that fix has landed yet in
  Ubuntu Hirsute.

Herewith I am posting the link to exactly the issue I am having:
  https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues/1155

And the Linux Firmware commit that resolves this:

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?id=73144e02dcff54529ab42d951de682740d204180

  A related Fedora bug:
  https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-93247f3274

It's difficult to relate the upstream kernel version firmware version
in which this was fixed (linux-firmware-20210511) to the version of
the linux-firmware Ubuntu package (for me). Perhaps someone can
comment on whether this has been merged in. I am still experiencing
  disconnects with 1.197.1 at least.

  --

  Description: Ubuntu 21.04
  Release: 21.04

  linux-firmware:
    Installed: 1.197.1
    Candidate: 1.197.1

  I expected:
    Bluetooth headset to remain connected

  What happened:
Bluetooth headset connects, then randomly disconnects and reconnects while
playing media

  [Test Case]

  See above.

  [Fix]

  Update AX20x firmware blobs.

  [Where Problems Could Occur]

New firmware blobs so previously working adapter might now fail.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1848790] Re: USB not working under arm64 on Pi4

Does someone know when the fix will be ported to the Ubuntu arm64 image?

Title:
USB not working under arm64 on Pi4

Status in linux-raspi2 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in linux-raspi2 source package in Eoan:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Ubuntu 19.10 arm64 on a Raspberry Pi 4 does not recognize a keyboard
which works successfully on the same Raspberry Pi 4 with Ubuntu 19.10
armhf. Both USB hubs (2 and 3) were tested, without the OS seeing the
keyboard on either. Booting the arm64 image on a Raspberry Pi 3, the
  keyboard worked successfully.

Output of lsusb under arm64 on a Pi 3:

  ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 413c:2106 Dell Computer Corp. Dell QuietKey Keyboard
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514
Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Output of lsusb under armhf on a Pi 4 (same keyboard attached):

  ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 413c:2106 Dell Computer Corp. Dell QuietKey Keyboard
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Output of lsusb under arm64 on the same Pi 4 (same keyboard attached):

  ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

The fact even the VIA Labs hub doesn't show up (which is built in)
suggests the kernel is (for some reason) unable to enumerate anything
  against the USB hubs.

  == Temporary Workaround ==

As noted by various people below, the following line can be added to
the "usercfg.txt" file on the boot partition:

  total_mem=3072

This will limit the available RAM to 3Gb, but otherwise things should
operate normally. Note that this bug does not affect Pi 4Bs with less
  than 4Gb of RAM.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1720622] Re: Cannot wake-up from sleep mode

2017-10-04 Thread Hadrien
We have mostly the same lspci output, Kai Heng. I attach a picture of
the comparison.

I'm going to visit https://bugzilla.freedesktop.org/ and hopefully
someone will understand what is happening with that bug.

Please note that I reinstalled Ubuntu 17.10 completely (the first time
was an upgrade from 17.04) to eliminate any residual component that may
interfere with the test. The results are the same.

I also tried sleep mode from an USB live flash drive installation of
Ubuntu 17.10. The result is a bit different: on wake-up, the monitor
powers on and displays the desktop, but the desktop is frozen and only a
corrupted mouse cursor can be moved.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1720622] Re: Cannot wake-up from sleep mode

2017-10-03 Thread Hadrien
I tried with Linux 4.14.0-041400rc3-generic, the problem is still there
unfortunately.

I attached a piece of /var/log/kern.log when I did the suspend/resume.

Interesting parts:

It seems that my AMD RX 480 is causing the problem. I wonder who should
be contacted to get more help about this hardware/driver.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1720839] [NEW] Computer goes to sleep mode after a gaming session

2017-10-02 Thread Hadrien
Public bug reported:

My computer is configured to go to sleep mode after 2 hours of inactivity.
I played a game for more than two hours on Steam, using only the gamepad.
I exit the game.

Actual result: the computer goes immediately to sleep mode
Expected result: the computer stays awake.

My guess is that either Steam or the game locked the wake-up mode, and
when I exited the game, the lock was released. Meanwhile the 2 hours
timer was not stopped and instead was running and expired after 2 hours,
leading to a sleep mode switch when the lock was released.

I don't really know which system module (kernel? gnome?) manages that
specific power management use case so I leave the package to blank for
now.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1634630] Re: Xbox 360 gamepad circular lights blink after wake-up

2016-10-19 Thread Hadrien
There was no problem with the latest kernel version of Ubuntu 16.04
(Linux kernel 4.4).

I installed and tested with Linux kernel 4.9.0-040900rc1. The problem
was still there.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1571297] Re: Freeze then kernel panic on wake-up

I've been using 16.04 for one month and the test case pass now.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)

Title:
Freeze then kernel panic on wake-up

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I've been using the sleep mode feature of Ubuntu for years and it used
to work very well. Since some days ago, I am experimenting problems:

  * I put the computer to sleep mode.
  * Later I wake-up the computer.
  * The computer wakes-up incompletely: I can move the mouse cursor but
clicking has no effect.

I try to recover from that problem:

  * I login in a console with Ctrl+Alt+F1 then kill all my processes.
  * The login screen appears and I can again interact with the GUI.
  * I login and it seems I can use the computer normally.
  * I start playing a video, several seconds later I experiment:
  * a total freeze of the computer with the exception of the mouse cursor
(the keyboard does not work anymore);
  * a kernel panic. I usually have a null pointer error (I think it is in a
function called send_vblank_event), and once I had a random page fault.

Because the computer locks when I play a video, I suspect a graphics
problem. I have an old Radeon graphics card (HD 4870) and I use the
Mesa drivers. Here is the latest update I did on my computer. There
was a new version of the kernel:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1571297] Re: Freeze then kernel panic on wake-up

2016-04-19 Thread Hadrien
Thanks for the reply. Because 16.04 is out in two days, I will first try
the upgrade, and then if the bug is still there I will try the upstream
kernel.

  * The login screen appears and I can again interact with the GUI.
  * I login and it seems I can use the computer normally.
  * I start playing a video, several seconds later I experiment:
  * a total freeze of the computer with the exception of the mouse cursor
(the keyboard does not work anymore);

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1571297] [NEW] Freeze then kernel panic on wake-up

2016-04-17 Thread Hadrien
Public bug reported:

I've been using the sleep mode feature of Ubuntu for years and it used
to work very well. Since some days ago, I am experimenting problems:

* I put the computer to sleep mode.
* Later I wake-up the computer.
* The computer wakes-up incompletely: I can move the mouse cursor but clicking
has no effect.

(the keyboard does not work anymore);
* a kernel panic. I usually have a null pointer error (I think it is in a
function called send_vblank_event), and once I had a random page fault.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1001579] Re: Incorrect file transfer progress bar

2016-01-23 Thread Hadrien
Maybe there is a way in Ubuntu to mount an USB stick with something in-
between full use of cache and full sync mode? For example, a sync done
every megabyte or every two seconds. Otherwise this operation should be
done by Nautilus itself.

Bug description:
When I am transferring data from my PC to USB storage device, the
transfer rate shown during the process is completely incorrect. So,
  also the progress bar.

Please check the attached screen shot:

It is showing the transfer rate to be : 31.5MB/sec while my USB drive
only supports maximum of 7MB/sec. Similarly the progress bar is shown
as 100% completed but internally still it is transferring the data and
took almost another 1 minute to finish. Till the end of this process I
am clueless whether the transfer is still going on or there is some
  hang.

Even though it's not a blocking issue but surely an usability issue.
