It worked like a charm, @giuliano69 After modifying said line, i compiled and installed, and then ran "sudo rmmod uvcvideo && sudo modprobe uvcvideo" as said in #24, and boom. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1940860] Re: Mellanox NIC interface names change between 5.4 and 5.8
Note that this is for the latest focal debian-installer. Since there is no hwe-netboot image the current focal installer is affected. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1940860] Re: Mellanox NIC interface names change between 5.4 and 5.8
This also affects the ubuntu-installer when the `d-i base- installer/kernel/override-image string linux-generic-hwe-20.04` flag is added to preseed. The installer loads 5.4 kernel and configure NICs using the 5.4 naming convention, then once the 5.11 kernel is loaded and the host reboots the network config fails. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1940860 Title: Mellanox NIC interface names change between 5.4 and 5.8 Status in subiquity: New Status in Release Notes for Ubuntu: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I noticed on a couple of systems that my network interface names change when upgrading from the focal LTS (5.4) kernel to the focal HWE (both 5.8 & 5.11) kernels. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1937296] Re: Kernel Hang During "Loading initial ramdisk..."
5.11.0-7614-generic was updated last week, and no longer boots. 5.13.0-7614-generic had never booted. 5.8.0-43-generic boots, but comes up without audio devices or network devices (neither wired nor wireless). This is particularly weird since the Ubuntu Live environment I'm writing this update from is using 5.8.0-43, and has both audio and networking working fine. 5.4.0-84-generic boots, but comes up without audio devices or network devices. I still need to try 5.4.0-26, but I'm not hopeful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1937296 Title: Kernel Hang During "Loading initial ramdisk..." Public bug reported: I noticed that on the graphics driver it says that the version on the driver is the AMD TURKS (DRM 2.43.0 / 4.4.0-173-generic, LLVM 6.0.0). I noticed that my HDMI audio driver got dropped from sound settings after running my external sound card, my Cakewalk UA-25EX driver which works but I lost my HDMI audio driver after unplugging the Cakewalk UA-25EX sound card. I'm not sure what version of the 16.04 64 bit operating system but I suspect that the package linux-image 4.40.170 generic but I am not sure without booting into the recovery mode at start up. Maybe what is happening is that the computer is trying to either upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04 or just updating programs instead. Either way, I think that the HDMI audio driver needs to be corrected, re-installed and the updates need to work again, maybe I need to do more work in the recovery console like repair broken packages etc.. I will keep you posted on it. Hopefully, the recovery console will resolve the problems, if not, I will have to run the terminal and correct the get the updates by using sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-install upgrade or the like. Feel free to keep me posted on any solutions that may correct the problems. I really want to correct the HDMI audio problem. I have a AMD HD Radeon 6570 Video card on a Gateway DX4300 Computer running Ubuntu 16.04. Thank you very kindly and have a wonderful day!! I have the Ubuntu Software center version 3.20.5 installed. My current system is listed as this: 4.4.0-173-generic #203-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 15 02:55:01 UTC 2020 x86_64. This information is from the system log. I wanted to update my system and maybe eventually upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 18.04. I'm happy with Ubuntu 16.04 except there is not any catalyst control center for my video card to tweak. I wonder why is the package linux-image 4.4.0.171 generic 4.4.0.171.200 trying to install if I have the 4.4.0.173 generic version already installed? Maybe the computer is trying to correct it's self? Feel free to let me know how to handle this and have a good day!! Also, my computer forgets that I want to auto-login and creates this crash report each time I startup my computer. It may be a video driver problem but I am not sure because my computer should auto-login, instead of me typing in my password every time I startup my computer. Maybe this startup problem is related to the loss of the HDMI audio driver but I'm not sure about it. The startup problem did not occur until after the loss of the HDMI audio driver. I can try removing my video card and booting up with onboard graphics and then clearing the improper HDMI video and audio drivers and shut down and put my video card back in to my computer to see if it refreshes its self. Maybe that will resolve the HDMI audio problem and resolve the boot sign in problem as well by refreshing the drivers. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1796895] Re: Kernel 4.15.0-36 network performance regression
We had a similar issue with our MySQL server farm (seven dedicated MySQL servers). Replication was very slow, falling behind for no apparent reason. We were reaching 24 hours of lag! *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1346917 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1346917 I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.1 and was using kernel 3.13 and after upgraded to 3.16, no more problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325560 Title: kvm virtio netdevs lose network connectivity under enough load Status in libvirt virtualization API: New Status in The Linux Kernel: Incomplete Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in qemu-kvm package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Networking breaks after awhile in kvm guests using virtio networking. We run data intensive jobs on our virtual cluster (OpenStack Grizzly Installed on Ubuntu 12.04 Server). The job runs fine on a single worker VM (no data transfer involved). As soon as I add more nodes where the workers need to exchange some data, one of the worker VM goes down. Ping responds with 'host unreachable'. Logging in via the serial console shows no problems: eth0 is up, can ping the local host, but no outside connectivity. Restart the network (/etc/init.d/networking restart) does nothing. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 604630] Re: boot sequence no longer honors SHM_SIZE set in /etc/defaults/tmpfs
Given that: 1) The config file : /etc/default/tmpfs is no longer installed and therefore doesn't contain a comment that says Adjust the default size of /dev/shm by uncommenting the line below (or whatever it said exactly) 2) /dev/shm is now mounted as /run/shm who's size is controlled by some other form of black magic 3) The reason I needed the size change was to tweak the now obsolete vmware server 2.x I'd say this issue can be folded, spindled, and mutilated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/604630 Title: boot sequence no longer honors SHM_SIZE set in /etc/defaults/tmpfs Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Under 9.04 and before, initial size of /dev/shm could be modified as documented in /etc/default/tmpfs For 9.10 and 10.04 however this setting has no effect.
