I'm seeing the same thing (wifi doesn't show up at all in network
manager), here's the kernel messages upon startup:

Thinkpad X201i, was running fine for a couple of years under 10.10,
upgraded to 12.04, now the machine is overheating and shutting down
regularly.
Overheating experienced while running test suites or while watching
video, Skype video calls, or Firefox Flash plugin activity.

This issue is still ongoing; looks like

current version of it.

@penalvch, mine is not a new report, just a data point on this issue
ongoing since 2011-04-06, and before that on Bug #370173 since
2009-05-01, still unresolved.
I suspect opening a new (duplicate) bug will not help matters. That said
`apport-collect` wouldn't let me add info to this report, so I
