OK, I have retested with v3.12-rc3-saucy and get the same result as with
3.12.0-999-generic on the Gigabyte Z77X-D3H. Still no kernel panics
yet.

I have installed 3.12.0-999-generic and so far I haven't had any kernel
panics, but it is an intermittent problem, so I am reluctant to say that
the problem is resolved in the mainline yet. Also, although there have
not yet been any kernel panics, the USB UVC
