[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1869501] Re: Bluetooth status in the Unity menu bar does not always match status in system settings
That's indicator-bluetooth. So not a u-c-c bug. Also the issue could be with gnome-bluetooth since it works fine on my machine. Your error shows "Failed to set mode: Blocked through rfkill (0x12) "...so the hardware is blocking it. Try running "sudo rfkill unblock all" but you may have to re-run it after each boot. ** Also affects: bluez (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: unity-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1869501 Title: Bluetooth status in the Unity menu bar does not always match status in system settings Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: New Status in unity-control-center package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: When no Bluetooth device is connected and I turn off Bluetooth with the switch in the menu of the notification icon, the Bluetooth status in System Settings app is still "on" however Bluetooth seems to be off. Also, when Bluetooth is turned on, the status of a paired device may show "connection on" in the notification icon menu when it is actually not connected, as System Settings do show correctly. In this case I have to switch off and on again if I want to activate the connection. Also, I can not switch the connection to a paired device on or off with the System Settings app. The switches are grey and I can not click them, however they do always show the correct status. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1659231] Re: drm/i915: Unity-control-center (or any other settings module) makes the system unresponsive (Unity7, Zesty) for Kernel > 4.6
Well there are two problems here 1) Kernel warning: drm_irq.c:1326 drm_wait_one_vblank+0x191/0x1a0 [drm]().This is probably due to https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/74c090b1bdc57b1c9f1361908cca5a3d8a80fb08 as stated in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93782 This can be fixed in by appending "video=SVIDEO-1:d" to kernel boot command. 2) It's this bug which still exists in v4.10-rc7. The possible cause is : eaf0d369a59c2086fe9c489e0a2a86e080ba - drm/i915: Roll out the helper nonblock tracking. A patch (https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/128918/) was proposed to disable it But according to @Jim Rees's comment on the patch they are not going to push it 4.9 and it may not land for 4.10 either. So that means I have to manually apply the patch and see if it gets fixed. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1572801] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Unity desktop uses much more ram than Ubuntu 15.10
I have started experiencing this issue after latest kernel update. As many discovered that memory leak in evolution-data-server is one of the culprit. But even after killing all eds services the memory usage still at 800mb+ unlike trusty (500~600mb). So it is not the only reason. Btw, memory leak has been fixed in evolution-data-server >= 3.20, although I don't which commit exactly does that. We can not use 3.20 on 16.04, but it is possible to cherry-pick those patches (I don't think upstream will ever do that) which fixes the leak. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572801 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 Unity desktop uses much more ram than Ubuntu 15.10 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in linux source package in Xenial: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 16.04 64bit ISO number 20160420.1 unity version 7.4.0+16.04.20160415-0ubuntu1 Ubuntu 16.04 64bit ram usage has increase dramatically over Ubuntu 15.10 Ubuntu 16.04 ram roughly 1 GB Ubuntu15.10 can be tuned to 420, 450 MB Ubuntu 16.04 with unity uses 1GB whereas Kubuntu 16.04 is using 420MB live usb ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: unity 7.4.0+16.04.20160415-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-21.37-generic 4.4.6 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-21-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CasperVersion: 1.376 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Apr 21 01:44:22 2016 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: xenial DistroVariant: ubuntu GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0412] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1414320] Re: Unity(7) freezes completely after Kernel update (3.18.0.9.9) on intel GMA-965 (Vivid)
I upgraded the BIOS ( now sudo dmidecode -s bios-version shows 68PVU Ver. F.20 bios-release-date shows 02/11/2011) but It still freezes. This what I did to reproduce: 1. Boot with 3.18.x.x kernel in Unity 2. Start gnome-system-log start monitoring 3. After few minutes crash occurs it prints out some information 4. System freezes. @Christopher I can perform apport-collect by booting into Unity with older 3.16.x kernel in Vivid OR by booting into non-compiz session like flashback-metacity with problematic kernel 3.18.x.
