[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542934] Re: hdmi not working

2016-02-25 Thread Londé Ngosso
After an update, hdmi was not working anymore (no video and no sound).
So i did the command:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

and changed "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="NOMODESET"" into
"GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.audio=1""

then
sudo update-grub

it fixed the problem for me.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542934] Re: [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

2016-02-14 Thread Londé Ngosso
System information:
Linux portable-londe 3.19.0-49-generic #55~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 22
11:24:31 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Dell Inc. Inspiron 5558 with Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS 64 bits - 8GB RAM - Bios A09 -
Intel® Core™ i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz × 4 - Intel® HD Graphics 5500

i got errors in the logs since the beginning:
dmesg|grep ERROR
[0.183435] acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC failed (AE_ERROR); disabling ASPM
[ 10.514448] [drm:gen8_irq_handler [i915_bpo]] *ERROR* The master control
interrupt lied (SDE)!
[ 10.514592] [drm:gen8_irq_handler [i915_bpo]] *ERROR* The master control
interrupt lied (SDE)!
[...]

Then i connected the hdmi cable to the tv. The video on firefox or chrome
stopped when i switch the sound to hdmi and Rhythmbox just stopped playing
music.
When i switched the sound output to internal boxes, every media started again.

The errors above still occurs in the log dmesg.

So i can say that the kernel 3.19 does not work with hdmi on my laptop.

see dmesg in attachment.

will test kernel 4.2

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542934] Re: [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

2016-02-13 Thread Londé Ngosso
I don't know which kernel you call the Trusty kernel.
I had problems with kernel 3.19. So i decided to test kernels 3.13,3.19,3.16,
4.2,4.4 and 4.5 as well.

after a look at http://packages.ubuntu.com/fr/trusty/kernel/, kernels
3.13,3.19,3.16, 4.2 are maybe trusty?
So i will report with new tests for them.

uname -a
Linux portable-londe 3.13.0-77-generic #121-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 20 10:50:42 UTC
2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

i got very boring boot errors: i2c-hid i2c-DLLC6AE failed to retrieve
report from device

since i tested this kernel a few minutes, i could not reproduce the cpu
fifo error but i get another error instead, see below:

dmesg|grep ERROR
[0.502344] acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC failed (AE_ERROR); disabling ASPM
[ 1219.423486] [drm:drm_edid_block_valid] *ERROR* EDID checksum is invalid,
remainder is 144

it occurs when i unplugged the hdmi cable and then plug it again.

except that, everything seems to work correctly.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542934] Re: [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

2016-02-13 Thread Londé Ngosso
Just found in my logs with this command and still the same errors
dmesg|grep ERROR
[0.177668] acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC failed (AE_ERROR); disabling ASPM
[ 372.223326] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU
pipe A FIFO underrun

The first error occurs always at the start of the laptop.
The second error occurs sometimes not always when i unplugged the hdmi cable
connected to my tv.

For the functionalities, i suppose everything works fine on my laptop
with the linux kernel 4.5 RC3.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1488719] Re: dmesg shows "[drm:gen8_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* The master control interrupt lied (SDE)!"

2016-01-06 Thread Londé Ngosso
Also tested Kernel 4.4 RC8 => the same error appears in /var/log/syslog when i
connect my laptop to the tv with a hdmi cable.
The error appears only at the moment when i plug the hdmi cable. Then it stops.
Then i change the configuration of the sound to hdmi display port. And the same
error occurs at the moment i changed the sound configuration. see dmesg in
attachment.

Also tested Kernel 4.4 RC7 did not solve the problem on my laptop when i

I have the same error and random freeze with kernel 3.19.0-42-generic
(and other kernels), not with kernel 3.13.
