[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1338275] Re: [radeon] suspend fails in 14.04 with Juniper and Caicos on an Asus P6T SE

Even at console in single user mode (to eliminate Xorg) and with echo devices /sys/power/pm_test and echo freeze /sys/power/state to narrow it down to unloading modules (it works with freezer sent to pm_test). Unloading the radeon module (needed to blacklist with a kernel parameter first) lets everything work. Tried the stock Ubuntu Trusty 3.13.0 kernel and also tried using 3.14.10 and 3.15.3 from the PPA. All fail, but 3.15 has the screen go white after a bit so that's new. Tried installing various new X stuff that probably is totally unrelated via ppa:oaibaf/graphics-drivers Tried disabling dpm with the radeon.dpm=0 parameter. Tried disabling synchronous suspend with echo 0 /sys/power/async. Can you get the syslog while booting with drm.debug=6 added to the kernel command line? ok, press e during boot in grub, you'll see a line with 'linux /boot/vmlinuz-*', add drm.debug=6 to the end, then boot normally with ctrl-x or f10 and force the bad things to happen. attach the resulting /var/log/dmesg to the bug :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315369 Title: Log in not available after lock screen with multi-monitor Status in Unity: Incomplete Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “linux” source package in Trusty: Confirmed Status in “unity” source package in Trusty: New Bug description: After the screen locks I am unable to log back in because the screen with the login prompt is black, and the screen on my laptop just shows the Ubuntu logo. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1297090] Re: nvidia-settings can not detect any real displays/monitors (trusty) (Optimus Laptop)
** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297090 Title: nvidia-settings can not detect any real displays/monitors (trusty) (Optimus Laptop) Status in “nvidia-settings” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: OS: Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 Trusty (latest upgrade) Hardware: Asus U36JC Graphic Driver: nvidia-331 I have opened a bug #1296020 (Non-existent display detected in both intel driver and nvidia driver). Except the non-existent display issue, nvidia-settings can not detect any real displays. The only display/monitor it can detect is the non-existent one. I think this should be a different bug for nvidia-331. For xrandr -q output, please refer to bug #1296020. nvidia-settings becomes useless now, it can not detect the built-in display and it can not detect any new external display. It can only detect the non- existent CRT-0 (VGA-0). Gnome control center -- Display can detect all displays. (but it fails to rotate external VGA display. not sure if this is another bug or not). I will attach two screenshots for nvidia-settings and gnome-control- center -- display. NOTE: due to the bug #1296020 and gdm flickering issue, I have added the following section to xorg.conf: Section Monitor Identifier VGA-0 Option Ignore True EndSection AND, xorg.conf is auto-generated by some package. I never created it manually. It might be generated by gpu-manager (I was told). Wysocki rafael.j.wyso...@intel.com Date: Mon Sep 9 23:07:47 2013 +0200 ACPI / bind: Prefer device objects with _STA to those without it As reported at https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60829, there still are cases in which do_find_child() doesn't choose the ACPI device object it is expected to choose if there are more such objects matching one PCI device present. This particular problem may be worked around by making do_find_child() return device obejcts witn _STA whose result indicates that the device is enabled before device objects without _STA if there's more than one device object to choose from. This change doesn't affect the case in which there's only one matching ACPI device object per PCI device. SSD: http://www.samsung.com/de/consumer/memory-storage/ssd/under-500-gb/MZ-7TE250BW Problem seems to be somewhere between Kernel, SSD, BIOS, SATA support. Already have the latest BIOS for my Laptop. System got more stable since I installed new Kernel (3.11 instead of 3.8) and use btrfs- Filesystem now. But still several freezes per day, especcially while browsing complicated (java?)-websites. After a saucy upgrade this no longer happens (I don't see the popup brightness bubble either). The other, similar keys (volume adjustment, etc) still work fine. Changing the values in /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness works (temporarily - it gets reset after the screen lock kicks in) I tried following the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting but this appears to be out of date (it references /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt which does not exist) Ubuntu kernel version bisect revealed: First bad Ubuntu kernel: 3.11.0-0.2 last good Ubuntu kernel: 3.10.0-6.17 The results of a commit bisect are pending. --- ApportVersion: 2.12.4-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: chris 2646 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-11-18 (675 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) MachineType: Dell Inc.
